Sep 12, 2023 · Jay NobleThis firm was retained by our buyers' lender to officiate the close of escrow on our home in NH. I cannot underscore how disruptive and uncooperative this firm was throughout this transaction in ways that threatened to delay the sale of our existing home and the purchase of our new one. Keyes was contacted on numerous occasions by ourselves, our realtor, and by third parties who were assisting us in the purchase of our new home. These inquiries were frequently met with obstinance and can-kicking. Requests for information were brushed aside with little to no regard for our time or that of our agents'. Keyes was fully aware of the timetable we needed to meet - a timeline that was clearly established well in advance of our closing. They chose to ignore it and instead marched to the beat of their own drum. Worse still, they consistently failed to meet their own deadlines and often misplaced information that was already given to them creating hassle, redundant communication, and incurring significant disruption and expense for all parties involved on our behalf. Incredulously, the ONLY time this firm proactively reached out to us (apart from soliciting our personal information at the onset) was to e-mail us (not even a phone call) in a panic eighteen minutes before close-of-business the DAY BEFORE the close of our NH home while we (and all our belongings) were IN-TRANSIT across the country insisting that we PRINT, execute and return a document they'd forgotten, by the following morning. Moreover, they afforded us ONE day to secure a notary and execute our closing paperwork (which was also requested by our agent well in advance on multiple occasions) - insisting the paperwork be returned to them the following business day - citing the timeliness of the situation. Because they were late in meeting their obligations, they pushed the urgency - entirely of their making - onto us. They are quick to make such demands but do not expect this firm to work a minute after-hours or lift so much as a finger on your behalf. They keep bankers' hours, are clocked out mentally by 10am, and will not be "put out" by the peasantry needs of the clients they serve. Amazingly, even after the tumultuous close of escrow on our NH property (when we thought we were forever done with these people), this firm somehow managed to ensnare and delay the closing of our new home (some 2500 miles across the country) - in a transaction that was otherwise seamless and unencumbered by anything! Whether it was the ongoing commitment to failure or the honey-badger nonplussed demeanor that demanded it, I cannot say, but Keyes failed to supply requested figures and documentation (which again, had been solicited by multiple parties on numerous occasions weeks in advance) to the loan and title company officiating our purchase - documentation which ultimately had to be obtained through other channels. This firm was disorganized, quick to demand, astonishingly lethargic (sloth level) and equally obtuse in their responses when pressed for information. They were, by all appearances, ill-staffed to adequately manage the modestly uncomplicated dynamics and level of support either sale required. In my opinion, this firm had no business officiating any form of real-estate transaction of any kind. We did not have a choice in their selection but we were certainly adversely impacted by their involvement - or lack thereof. This is, bar none, the worst experience I've had with any real-estate firm. The primary charter of a title company or real-estate law firm is to coordinate and competently execute a smooth and seamless transaction on behalf of all parties: buyers, sellers, lenders, and agents. Instead, it truly felt as if this firm was actively working against us. The stress we endured on account of this firm's missteps is unparalleled. I would award negative zero stars if permitted. I could not, in good conscience, recommend Keyes Law Office to anyone unless they owned significant stock in Excedrin and enjoyed having themselves garbed in thick red tape at every turn.
