Criminal Defense Law: Representing clients facing a wide range of criminal charges. The firm is known for its ability to "pick apart a case," identify flaws in police investigations and prosecutor's arguments, and leverage these to the client's advantage, whether through negotiation for a plea deal or aggressive trial defense. They handle various criminal offenses, aiming to avoid convictions, secure reduced charges, and prevent jail sentences or fines.
DUI (Driving Under the Influence) and DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) Defense: This is a core specialization for the firm. They represent individuals charged with DUI/OWI (Operating While Impaired) in Washington, DC, addressing both the criminal charge in DC Superior Court and the administrative driver's license matter at the DC Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). They advise on important aspects like the right to refuse field sobriety tests and handle cases even for non-DC residents or those found "in physical control" of a vehicle while intoxicated.
Personal Injury Litigation: Providing legal assistance to individuals who have been injured due to the negligence of others. This includes advising on steps to take after an accident (such as seeing a doctor immediately, completing an incident report, and not speaking to others about the accident before knowing your legal rights) and guiding clients through the process of seeking compensation for their injuries.
Civil Litigation: While less detailed than their criminal and DUI focus, general civil litigation services may also be offered, indicating the firm's capacity to handle various civil disputes.
Alternate Dispute Resolution Matters: Beyond courtroom litigation, Mr. Wellington also advises clients on alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, to resolve legal issues.
The firm emphasizes a proactive approach, encouraging clients to call immediately after an incident rather than waiting, to ensure the most effective defense.

Feb 05, 2025 · Chrispine ShijaI contacted Wellington and Jobson in 2023 to help with my robbery case this was my first time ever dealing with lawyers. I explained my situation to them about how the police came and took my car for evidence they asked me what I wanted to do I said to get my car back from them and to represent me whenever I got arrested and had to go to court ( the police was in process of getting a warrant for my arrest) he said ok and gave me a contract with the price I had to pay and so on. So after I signed I payed some money and he started to set up meetings every meeting we had was a run around I kept asking is there a chance i can get my car back he contacted the police department maybe once or twice regarding my case and car he told me they said it was a ongoing investigation and I needed to come in and talk to them but as my lawyers they should’ve been speaking up for me it seem like they was letting the police tell them anything and they weren’t acting on anything as far as my car they knew I wasn’t going to get it back until the case was closed but they was getting my hopes up like I was they didn’t file any motions or anything every meeting we had was pointless they was so focused on on the money I was paying them it felt like a scam we didn’t get anything done fast forward to December 29th 2023 I contacted them letting them know I was turning myself in like they told me too ( they told me the police was waiting on a judge signature to sign off on the warrant ) they said ok they will come so that morning when I arrive to court I waited to my name was called when I went out to see the judge my so called lawyers were no where near to be found the public defender told me one of them came but they told her I was taking to long to come out and so he left and I was stuck with a public defender mind y’all I payed them thousands of dollars and received no representation what so ever with that being said do not contact them they only focused on getting payed and will give u the run around but shout out to my public defender who ended up getting me a good deal it’s a scam yall please be careful with them
Jun 01, 2025 · Trece WayGreat attorney! I called him on a Monday night at 8:00 and he was available and took my call during off hours. I felt peace of mind because he was reassuring and trustworthy during a difficult period because of my case. I now recommend him to family and friends as I’m confident he will help them the same way he helped me.
Jan 23, 2025 · T GuerreroI had an extremely disappointing experience with Mr. K. Lawson. I was referred to him by a trusted connection—my sister’s friend, who is also an attorney. Unfortunately, this turned into a regrettable ordeal. First and foremost, he misrepresented himself as a civil attorney, claiming to be qualified to handle my case. Despite this claim, he never gave me an opportunity to explain the details of my situation. He was dismissive, condescending, and seemed to predetermine the outcome of my case without listening to or reviewing all the facts. His approach was stern, rude, and entirely unprofessional, leaving me feeling disrespected and unheard. To make matters worse, when my attorney reached out to address the situation and request the return of my funds, he never responded. His refusal to communicate or resolve the issue speaks volumes about his lack of accountability and professional integrity. I would never recommend his services to anyone. Legal matters require a degree of trust and understanding between attorney and client, and that trust was completely broken in this case. If you’re seeking legal representation, I encourage you to look elsewhere for someone who will respect you, listen to your concerns, and act ethically in their practice.
