Mr. DeTroy was extremely caring and worked extremely hard for an extensive period of time to help me fight and win my workers compensation case. His fee's were extremely reasonable and he always had my best interest in mind every step of the way. His partner Mr. Leary did his best to help me navigate my appeals with social security and despite the fact that I was denied for that it was not for lack of trying on his part. I highly recommend either of these wonderful attorneys as they truly care about their clients!

Leary & DeTroy Introduce

For individuals in Auburn, Maine, and across Central Maine seeking legal assistance in a variety of challenging areas, Leary & DeTroy stands as a prominent firm within the 'Lawyers Near Me' platform. Located at 90 Main St, Auburn, ME 04210, USA, and accessible via phone at (207) 782-3275 or mobile at +1 207-782-3275, the firm, co-founded by attorneys Justin W. Leary and Benjamin E. DeTroy, has a long-standing presence in the community, with a combined experience exceeding two decades in successfully representing numerous clients.

Leary & DeTroy's practice areas are broad and directly address common legal needs faced by individuals. Their primary focus areas include:

  • Workers' Compensation: This is a significant part of their practice, where they represent individuals who have suffered injuries or illnesses in the workplace. This involves navigating the complexities of workers' compensation claims, ensuring clients receive fair benefits for medical expenses, lost wages, and permanent impairment. Their website explicitly mentions handling "Longshore & Harbor Workers' Claims," indicating specialized knowledge in federal workers' compensation laws as well.
  • Personal Injury: The firm assists clients who have been injured due to the negligence or wrongful acts of others. This covers a wide range of incidents, including motor vehicle accidents and wrongful death circumstances, where they work to secure compensation for damages such as medical bills, lost income, pain, and suffering.
  • Criminal Defense: Leary & DeTroy also undertakes "tough criminal law matters," including felonies, misdemeanors, Operating Under the Influence (OUI), and drug offenses. They are dedicated to protecting the rights and freedoms of clients facing criminal charges.
  • Divorce & Custody: The firm handles sensitive family law matters, providing representation in divorce proceedings and disputes over child custody, aiming to achieve the best possible outcomes for their clients and their families.
  • Social Security Disability: They assist individuals in appealing denials of Social Security Disability benefits, helping them navigate the administrative process to obtain the support they need when unable to work due to disability.
  • Disability Discrimination: Representing clients who have faced discrimination based on a disability, often intersecting with employment law and civil rights.
This diverse range of services positions Leary & DeTroy as a multi-faceted firm capable of addressing a wide array of individual legal challenges.

The office environment at 90 Main St, Auburn, ME 04210, would typically be a professional and client-friendly space. Main Street locations often provide good visibility and accessibility within the community. Law offices handling such diverse practice areas, from personal injury to criminal defense, are designed to offer confidential consultation rooms where clients can discuss sensitive matters openly and comfortably. The firm's commitment to "individualized attention and care" suggests an environment that prioritizes client comfort and clear communication. The office would be equipped for efficient case management, document organization, and legal research, all of which are vital for effectively handling the varied and often complex legal matters they undertake. Their website mentions a professional staff, including paralegals Denise Lizotte and Carole Cummings-DeTroy, and legal secretary Lisa Asselin-Jones, who contribute to providing personalized service, suggesting an organized and supportive back-office environment.

Key features that distinguish Leary & DeTroy include:

  • Comprehensive Practice Areas: Their ability to handle workers' compensation, personal injury, criminal defense, family law, and social security disability allows them to serve a broad segment of the local population, often providing a single point of contact for multiple legal needs.
  • Extensive Experience: Attorneys Justin W. Leary and Benjamin E. DeTroy collectively possess more than two decades of experience, having successfully represented thousands of clients. Mr. Leary alone has practiced in the Lewiston and Auburn areas for over 25 years, focusing on workers' compensation and criminal defense.
  • Client-Centric Approach: The firm prides itself on "highest client satisfaction" and being "devoted to serving you with individualized attention and care." Client testimonials, despite being mixed, reinforce this aspect for many clients, highlighting caring and persistent advocacy.
  • Strong Reputation and Referrals: Leary & DeTroy is noted for holding a high reputation in the legal community and receiving a significant number of referrals from previous clients, their families, friends, and even other law offices. This suggests a strong word-of-mouth endorsement and professional respect. The firm has also been "voted best attorneys multiple times since 2001."
  • Free Initial Consultation: Offering a free initial consultation is a valuable feature that lowers the barrier for potential clients to seek legal advice and assess their options without immediate financial commitment.
  • Local Presence and Community Engagement: Being centrally located in Auburn and serving Central Maine, the firm has a strong local presence. Their inclusion as a donor to the Trinity Jubilee Center's "Sponsor a Meal Project" further indicates their engagement with the local community.
  • Court Admissions: Attorney Justin W. Leary is admitted to practice in the Maine State Bar, U.S. District Court for the District of Maine, demonstrating his ability to represent clients in both state and federal courts.

Regarding promotional information, on a 'Lawyers Near Me' platform, Leary & DeTroy would prominently feature their diverse practice areas, emphasizing their strength in workers' compensation, personal injury, and criminal defense. Their promotional messages would highlight the extensive experience of their attorneys and their commitment to achieving "highest client satisfaction." The offer of a free initial consultation would be a key promotional tool to attract new clients. Testimonials play a crucial role in their public image. For example, the glowing review for Mr. DeTroy, describing him as "extremely caring" and "worked extremely hard" to win a workers' compensation case with "extremely reasonable" fees, would be a strong selling point. Similarly, Mr. Leary's efforts in social security appeals would be highlighted. However, it is imperative to address all available feedback objectively. The negative review for Ben DeTroy, stating he "was to busy to help," "Acted like he was working for employers not myself," and "Told me to just do what the employer wanted," represents a different perspective on client experience and should be considered by prospective clients. While testimonials are powerful, a transparent presentation of both positive and negative feedback allows potential clients to form a more balanced view. Therefore, promotional efforts would likely focus on their overall positive track record and high referral rate, while implicitly encouraging direct consultation to address individual concerns and assess attorney-client fit before engagement.

Bad experience attorney was to busy to help . Acted like he was working for employers not myself. Told me to just do what the employer wanted . Ben Detroy isn’t a choice I would suggest for anyone . I would give even a star. Just have to for the rating .

I'm currently working with Justin Leary on a disability benefits case. I was initially denied SSDI but am now going through the appeals process. Mr. Leary and his staff have been nothing but courteous and professional with me. I will give him five stars upon the conclusion of my case, but for now, I can truly recommend their law office.

I can't even begin to describe the lack of caring and professionalism of Justin Leary. I hired Justin to represent me in my divorce. He was more of a lawyer for my ex then he was for me. The lack of concern for my case was overwhelming, and at each hurdle of the trial when I need his legal support the answer was always sorry but that's just the way it is. No that's the way it is when you have a lawyer who only wants your money but could care less about the case. At one point I had email him a Power point needed for evidence to show my incoming. His office team could not figure out how to open the attachment and print it out. If you need legal support do not come to Justin Leary for it.

Justin Leary is great lawyer who took the time to work hard on my particular case. In the end the result was even better than expected 😀
