Can't get anyone to talk about anything to me in person, forced to call a number where you wait in line then they hang up on you then you're number 21 in line after that. I have never been lucky enough to reach anyone in the narrow 2.5 hour window they are open on the 3 random days they're open.
Welcome to "Lawyers Near Me," a platform dedicated to helping you understand and connect with legal resources in your community. Today, we are providing an objective introduction to Pine Tree Legal, an organization located at 95 Park St #301, Lewiston, ME 04240, USA. They can be reached by phone at (207) 784-1558 or via mobile at +1 207-784-1558. As a non-profit organization, Pine Tree Legal Assistance (PTLA) aims to provide free civil legal services to low-income individuals throughout the State of Maine. This introduction will detail their environment, stated services, features, and an analysis of promotional information, including crucial insights from real customer reviews.
The "environment" of Pine Tree Legal's office in Lewiston, located at 95 Park Street, Suite 301, suggests a professional setting within a multi-purpose building, common for non-profit organizations. Lewiston, being a major city in Maine, often has such buildings in its commercial or administrative districts, providing a centralized location for service accessibility. While specific details about the interior ambiance are not available, it is reasonable to expect a functional and respectful environment, designed to facilitate legal consultations for individuals who may be experiencing significant personal or financial distress. The multi-office structure across Maine (Portland, Lewiston, Augusta, Bangor, Machias, and Presque Isle) indicates a concerted effort to establish a presence in key communities to reach a broad demographic of eligible clients. However, as the client reviews highlight, the physical location's suitability can be overshadowed by challenges in direct access and communication, which are integral parts of the service environment.
Pine Tree Legal Assistance's stated "services" are focused on providing free civil legal aid to low-income residents of Maine. Their mission is to uphold state and federal laws affecting poor people and address systemic barriers to justice. They aim to assist in cases where legal help can make a difference in one's ability to meet basic human needs or enforce basic human rights. Their key service areas, as publicly documented and presented on their website, include:
These services demonstrate a broad commitment to addressing fundamental civil legal needs that directly impact the well-being and stability of low-income individuals and families in Maine. It's important to note that as a civil legal aid provider, they do not handle criminal defense for indigent clients in the traditional court system, though they may in Tribal Court systems.
The "features" of Pine Tree Legal, based on their organizational goals and external reviews, present a complex picture:
However, the provided "real customer reviews" reveal significant challenges regarding the firm's features, particularly concerning accessibility and responsiveness:
These reviews paint a stark picture of significant operational challenges that directly impact client experience and the firm's ability to deliver on its mission, despite its stated goals and broad service offerings. The discrepancy between the organization's stated purpose and the client experience is a critical point for potential users.
In terms of "promotional information" and the "goods for sale" through "Lawyers Near Me," Pine Tree Legal offers free civil legal assistance. Their promotional efforts are likely channeled through their reputation as a long-standing legal aid provider, their website, and community outreach efforts designed to inform low-income individuals about their eligibility for services. The positive reputation mentioned in some other online discussions (e.g., "fantastic organization with great employees" in older Reddit comments, though this conflicts with the provided recent reviews) highlights that they are perceived as a vital resource in the legal community. However, the provided reviews, which directly reflect recent customer experiences, suggest that the reality of accessing these services may not match the promotional ideal. The "goods for sale" are invaluable: access to justice for those who cannot afford private counsel, but the reviews clearly indicate that the accessibility of these "goods" is severely hampered by operational bottlenecks. For local users in Lewiston, ME, seeking assistance from Pine Tree Legal, it is crucial to be aware of these reported challenges in communication and access, and to prepare for potential difficulties in reaching a representative or obtaining immediate assistance, despite the critical need for their services within the low-income community.

Sep 27, 2022 · Doug SmithThis organization seems great on paper, but they are pretty useless. They are never available, the list of things they will help with gets shorter and shorter. It’s basically impossible to talk to a live person. You end up in circles on a “phone tree”, and after all that frustration, your issue ends up having to go to a useless website, and nobody ever gets back to you. Even to ask a simple question is too much for them, you end up on a website that will take your question, but they are more concerned with if you qualify. They want more financial info than the IRS. I should easily qualify, but can’t get any help whatsoever or even a return email or phone call. I know absolutely nobody helped by their services. Yet they always come up as a “resource”. It’s a cruel lie. The excuse is always “limited resources”. Since they don’t seem to really serve any purpose, I would think they should be defunded and allowed to close. It was next to impossible to get help from them a decade ago, now it really is. Don’t bother, but good luck if you do.
