I presently would never recommend this firm. I applied in 2018 and the case dragged on until 2024. Molly Trefand was the one who handled my case and communication was terrible. I repeatedly asked "IS there anything else I need to have for you for the hearing?" to which she said nope everything was ready for go. 10 minutes before a hearing she calls to tell me everything she's missing. Even after I was EVENTUALLY granted SSDI, I STILL had to contact my congressman to get my settlement because Manring and Ferrell sat on it for months. I filed in 2018, I was granted SSDI, finally, in Feb 2024. It is now Mid April 2025 and this firm didn't even apply for this fee disbursement until a few days ago, AFTER I went to SSA and demanded the rest of my settlement. DO NOT HIRE MANRING AND FERRELL if you want clear communication, updates on your case, or any of your settlement. I would NEVER hire them again, and I would have never hired them had I read reviews before hand. Do your due diligence if hiring SSA attorneys.

Manring & Farrell Introduce

For many Ohio residents, facing a debilitating illness or injury can lead to not only health challenges but also significant financial strain. When a condition prevents you from working, securing Social Security Disability benefits (SSDI or SSI) can become a vital lifeline. However, the application process for these benefits is notoriously complex, often involving extensive paperwork, medical evidence, and multiple appeals. Navigating this intricate system without experienced legal guidance can be overwhelming and frustrating. This is where specialized legal firms, like Manring & Farrell in Columbus, step in to assist Ohioans through what can be a long and challenging journey. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Manring & Farrell, exploring their focus on Social Security Disability law, their location, and how they endeavor to support individuals seeking these critical benefits in Ohio.

Manring & Farrell is a law firm with a dedicated focus on Social Security Disability (SSD) claims. Their practice is centered on representing individuals who are seeking to obtain Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). They understand that the path to approval can be fraught with denials and appeals, often extending to administrative hearings and even federal court. The firm's mission, as suggested by their practice area, is to alleviate the burden on individuals by managing the legal complexities of their disability claims. They work with clients throughout Ohio, aiming to ensure their medical conditions and vocational limitations are properly presented to the Social Security Administration. For those in Ohio who find themselves unable to work due to a disability, Manring & Farrell positions itself as an advocate dedicated to fighting for the benefits their clients deserve, guiding them through each step of what can be a lengthy and intricate legal process.

The Columbus office of Manring & Farrell is conveniently located at 167 N High St, Columbus, OH 43215, USA. This address places the firm in a very central and accessible part of downtown Columbus, a prime location for clients across the greater Columbus metropolitan area and surrounding regions of Ohio. Being on North High Street means the office is well-served by the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) bus system, providing numerous public transportation routes that make it easy for clients to reach without personal vehicles. For those driving, downtown Columbus offers various parking options, including metered street parking and numerous parking garages within a short walking distance. Its location in a bustling commercial area also means it is surrounded by other essential services and amenities. This central positioning underscores their commitment to being within convenient reach of the many Ohio communities they aim to serve, ensuring that individuals seeking disability assistance can easily access their legal support.

Manring & Farrell primarily focuses on representing individuals in their pursuit of Social Security Disability benefits. Their services are tailored to navigate the specific requirements and procedures of the Social Security Administration (SSA). The types of services they offer include:

  • Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) Applications and Appeals: Assisting individuals who have worked and paid Social Security taxes to apply for benefits, and handling all levels of appeals, including reconsideration, administrative law judge (ALJ) hearings, and Appeals Council review.
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Applications and Appeals: Representing low-income individuals, regardless of work history, in their applications and appeals for SSI benefits.
  • Hearing Representation: Preparing clients for and representing them at disability hearings before an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ), which is often a critical stage in the disability claims process.
  • Federal Court Appeals: Taking cases to federal court if necessary, after all administrative appeals have been exhausted, demonstrating a commitment to pursuing benefits through all legal avenues.
  • Gathering Medical Evidence: Assisting clients in obtaining necessary medical records and documentation to support their disability claim, which is a crucial component of any successful application.
  • Vocational Expert and Medical Expert Testimony: Preparing for and addressing testimony from vocational and medical experts during hearings.
  • Communicating with the Social Security Administration: Handling all direct communications with the SSA on behalf of their clients, alleviating the burden of navigating bureaucratic processes.

Manring & Farrell highlights several features and aspects that they aim to provide to their clients, particularly those navigating the complex Social Security Disability system in Ohio.

  • Specialized Focus: A key highlight is their dedicated specialization in Social Security Disability law, meaning their team is deeply familiar with the nuances, regulations, and common pitfalls of the SSA process.
  • Comprehensive Representation: They offer assistance from the initial application stage through all levels of appeal, including federal court, demonstrating a commitment to seeing cases through to completion, no matter how long it takes.
  • Client Advocacy: As evidenced by one client's review, the firm aims to "believe in my case and never gave up on me," suggesting a persistent and dedicated approach to client advocacy even in challenging circumstances.
  • Experienced Team: While individual experiences may vary, the positive mention of specific attorneys (like Eric Cole) and support staff (like Molly Marzola) highlights the presence of experienced professionals within the firm.
  • Thorough Preparation: The emphasis on being "prepped me thoroughly" for hearings indicates a commitment to ensuring clients are well-prepared and confident before important proceedings.
  • Responsiveness: A client's note about staff being "always quick to respond to my questions and phone calls" points to a focus on client communication and accessibility.
  • No Fee Unless You Win: Like many SSD firms, they likely operate on a contingency fee basis, meaning clients generally don't pay attorney fees unless they successfully receive benefits. This makes legal representation accessible to those with limited financial resources.

In the realm of Social Security Disability law, "promotions" and "special offers" differ significantly from retail discounts. For firms like Manring & Farrell, the most consistent and valuable "special offer" is the contingency fee arrangement. This means that clients typically do not pay any attorney fees upfront. Instead, the firm's fee is usually a percentage of the past-due benefits (back pay) awarded by the Social Security Administration, and only if the client wins their case. This arrangement is governed by federal law and ensures that individuals who are already facing financial hardship due to disability can access legal representation without having to pay out-of-pocket fees. Furthermore, most reputable Social Security Disability law firms, including Manring & Farrell, offer a free initial consultation. This allows Ohio residents to discuss their case, understand the application or appeals process, and learn how the firm can assist them, all without any upfront cost or obligation. This commitment to accessible, risk-free initial consultations and contingency fees is the primary and most significant "special offer" provided by such legal practices.

10-Star Experience with Manring & Farrell – Especially Attorney Eric Cole & Molly Marzola I began working with Manring & Farrell in 2021 on my Social Security Disability case, and I cannot thank them enough for their dedication and persistence. From the very start, they believed in my case and never gave up on me—even when we had to take it all the way to federal court and eventually to the Sixth District Court. Attorney Eric Cole played a vital role in my case, and I want to give special recognition to Molly Marzola. Molly was nothing short of incredible. She was with me every step of the way, especially during the final hearing, where she was on the call with the judge. She prepped me thoroughly, made sure I felt confident, and was always quick to respond to my questions and phone calls. Her support meant the world to me. Thanks to their hard work, I was ultimately awarded Social Security Disability benefits. I am beyond grateful for everything this firm has done. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would—I give them a 10-star rating! ⸻

I was referred to this law firm by Atticus for my SSDI claim. Overall they did a really great job and I felt after my hearing that I had been represented very well, and the case turned out in my favor. I felt they answered all of my questions adequately and addressed my concerns well throughout the process. I have an “invisible” illness that is not very well-known and the severity of which is often dismissed by people who do not understand it, so I had a lot of concerns about making sure the government got all of the right information and about being taken seriously, and I ended up being very happy with how my case was handled by this firm. I did have a little trouble with communicating with them throughout the process and had a few occasions where I had to follow up about a question a couple of times to get a response. But that was just a slight hiccup; they switched the attorney who was on my case partway in, and after I got in direct contact with the attorney who ended up representing me in my hearing, Ashton, the communication greatly improved. Because of this I still give the experience 5 stars, as I am extremely thankful to Manring and Farrell for all that they did to assist me in being able to get my disability case approved, as well as making me feel comfortable throughout the anxious process of waiting for the claim to be processed. I would definitely say I recommend them.

I wouldn't recommend this attorney firm, they do not communicate well, and don't keep me updated on my case and I had to do most of the work for my disability case. I always called and asked if I needed anything else to do and work for the case but my attorney said we just have to wait and they would give me a call back whenever necessary. Once it was a few days before my hearing level, they dropped the revelation on me that I needed critical paperwork for my hearings days before it after I asked weeks before when calling if there was anything else I needed while I asked. I wasn't able to get the paperwork from my medical providers in time before the hearings stating how bad I was disabled and was very unprepared in the hearing. This attorney firm keeps you in the dark for your hearing and don't communicate barely at all and are very sloppy in their processes.
