I went with McCoy for my custody case because 1. I was broke 2. He offered me the best price.. I'm not the first review warning you and my experience sounds EXACTLY the same. I explained to McCoy my situation with my child and the outcome I was trying to get. He told me it sounds possible to get such outcome and gives me the best pricing I've gotten from any lawyer I had called so I hire him and in the end we have to set my case for trial and he wants to charge me literally 10X more than what we had agreed to before I even hired him. I told him he's a pathetic person and he says if I wasn't rude in the way I talked to him he could have worked with me and he might be able to do the trial for the original price. This guy can't even follow through with trying to rob me for my money I'd have respected the scam a little if he didn't fold so easily. In the end I found Koy from 702Law he helped me for even less than what McCoy had tricked me in with and I got everything I wanted from the case, Koy is located far from this area but they are partners with EQUAL RIGHTS FOR DIVORCED FATHERS which is not far from McCoy

Services Offered

Based on the provided client reviews, Mc Coy Law Group appears to primarily focus on and has experience with family law matters, specifically related to child custody and child support issues. While these are the only areas explicitly mentioned in the feedback, law firms often handle a broader scope of services within a given legal field. Based on the client experiences, the services offered by Mc Coy Law Group likely include, but are not limited to:

  • Child Custody Cases:

The reviews explicitly mention clients hiring Mc Coy Law Group for "custody case" and discussing "situation with my child and the outcome I was trying to get." This indicates that a significant portion of their practice involves representing parents in disputes over legal and physical custody of children, working towards specific custodial arrangements. Clients sought particular "outcomes" in their custody battles, suggesting the firm handles complex negotiations or litigation in this area.

  • Child Support Issues:

One review directly states, "I had discussed retroactive child support he never filed the form and in court stated what form." This suggests that the firm engages with child support calculations, modifications, and enforcement, including retroactive claims, as part of their family law services. The client's experience highlights the need for meticulous handling of related forms and legal procedures.

  • Family Law Matters (General):

Given the focus on custody and child support, it is highly probable that Mc Coy Law Group also handles other related family law services. These could include divorce proceedings, legal separation, property division within a divorce, alimony/spousal support, and potentially other domestic relations issues common in Nevada.

  • Legal Consultation:

Implicit in the hiring process, the firm provides consultations where clients explain their situations and desired outcomes. This initial discussion helps assess the feasibility of a case and provides pricing, as mentioned in the reviews, indicating a standard practice of discussing client needs and potential legal pathways.

Features / Highlights

Based on the provided client reviews, several features and aspects of Mc Coy Law Group's practice have been highlighted, offering insight into their operations:

  • Initial Competitive Pricing:

One client stated, "He offered me the best price," and "gives me the best pricing I've gotten from any lawyer I had called so I hire him." This suggests that Mc Coy Law Group may initially offer highly competitive rates for their services, which can be an attractive feature for clients seeking affordable legal representation, especially in personal family matters where finances can be strained.

  • Focus on Custody and Child Support:

The reviews explicitly confirm the firm's involvement in child custody cases and discussions around retroactive child support, indicating a primary focus or significant experience in these family law areas.

  • Negotiability on Fees:

One client mentioned that after expressing frustration about a price increase, the lawyer suggested he "might be able to do the trial for the original price" if the client's tone was different. This indicates some level of flexibility or willingness to negotiate on fees, particularly when client communication styles are perceived as cooperative.

  • Partnership with Equal Rights for Divorced Fathers:

A review states that Mc Coy Law Group is "partners with EQUAL RIGHTS FOR DIVORCED FATHERS." This affiliation suggests a potential specialization or a strong network within legal advocacy groups focused on fathers' rights in family law cases, which could be a significant highlight for certain prospective clients.

However, it's also important to acknowledge that the reviews highlight some significant areas of concern, which should be considered as part of the overall features:

  • Communication Issues:

A recurring theme is a "Hugh lack of communication" and being "notified of a court hearing last minute." This points to potential challenges in timely updates and responsiveness, which are critical for client peace of mind and effective case management.

  • Concerns Regarding Follow-Through on Filings:

One client explicitly stated, "he never filed the form and in court stated what form" regarding retroactive child support, indicating potential issues with administrative follow-through on agreed-upon legal actions.

  • Significant Price Increase Post-Engagement:

A client reported that the lawyer "wants to charge me literally 10X more than what we had agreed to before I even hired him" when the case progressed to trial. This suggests potential discrepancies between initial quotes and later charges, which could lead to unexpected financial burdens for clients.

  • Customer Service and Professionalism Concerns:

The phrase "he told him he's a pathetic person and he says if I wasn't rude in the way I talked to him he could have worked with me" suggests a potential for unprofessional exchanges or issues with client relations when disputes arise over fees or services.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a legal service provider, Mc Coy Law Group operates within the professional and ethical guidelines of the legal industry, which typically do not involve retail-style "promotions" or "sales." However, based on the client reviews, there are certain aspects of their initial engagement and fee structure that could be considered beneficial for prospective clients:

  • Competitive Initial Pricing:

Clients explicitly mentioned that Mc Coy Law Group "offered me the best price" and provided "the best pricing I've gotten from any lawyer I had called" during the initial consultation phase. This indicates that the firm may intentionally offer attractive rates to secure new clients, potentially making them an affordable option for initial legal services compared to other firms in the area.

  • Negotiability on Trial Fees (with conditions):

One client's experience suggests that there might be some flexibility in fees for trial, specifically noting that the lawyer indicated he "might be able to do the trial for the original price" if the client's communication style had been different. While this is not a guaranteed offer, it hints at a possibility of negotiation on more expensive stages of legal proceedings, depending on specific circumstances and client-attorney rapport.

  • Initial Consultations:

While not explicitly called a "promotion," the firm clearly engages in initial consultations where clients present their situation and receive preliminary advice along with pricing. This allows clients to understand their options and the potential costs involved before committing fully to legal representation.

It is important for prospective clients to have a very clear and detailed discussion about all fees, including potential increases for different stages of a case (e.g., trial preparation), during the initial consultation. Ensuring all agreed-upon terms are in writing can help prevent misunderstandings regarding costs.

In conclusion, Mc Coy Law Group is a local legal option in Las Vegas with experience in family law. Locals considering this firm should engage in very thorough initial consultations, ask detailed questions about all potential fees for all stages of a case, and seek clear, written agreements on communication expectations and financial terms to ensure their experience aligns with their needs.

I met Brandon as opposing counsel on a complex divorce trial I did several years ago and I thought he did a great job. In the trial, he was professional, prepared and got his client a very good outcome. Later when I ended up getting divorced, Brandon handled the case, and he was prompt, efficient and got things done quicker than expected, making a difficult process go as smoothly as it could possibly go, and he answered questions quickly. I would highly recommend Brandon to anyone looking for family law services.

The best family attorney for cleaning up my messy divorce. Brandon McCoy was compassionate and reassuring while working to get me the best possible resolution to my case. I could not be happier with the outcome as well as how I was treated. I fully believe that a lesser attorney would have dropped the ball. Thank you so much to Brandon and his staff.

My wife was in a car accident a few years ago. She was injured and needed immediate medical care, as well as months of chiropractic care for her back. We had never been through an experience like that before, and really did not know where to start. We made a great decision and met with Mr. McCoy a few days after the accident. Mr. McCoy was so helpful to us, and explained the process thoroughly to us. He set my wife up with a chiropractor who met regularly with her for a few months while her back healed. Mr. McCoy helped us navigate negotiations with the insurance company to replace our car and helped us receive a fair settlement for my wife's pain and suffering. He was always quick to answer emails, text messages, and phone calls. Five star service!
