Full disclosure. This is the second review I have posted for Merritt Webb. Normally, just one to a customer, I say. In this case, it's impossible to update my earlier review since it came in through a now unused email address. Further, since it was three stars and I would now assess them at only 2 , the 1.5+ that the collective reviews furnished is about right in my opinion. In addition to my earlier comments about the quality of their staff attorneys' advice, Merritt Webb will only refer to one plan attorney at discounted rates. That means, if you are unwilling to work with him/her, you're pretty much out of luck. The staff attorneys I have used are willing to recite General opinion with regard to legal options, but to the best of my knowledge, none has ever performed even a modicum of research on the legal issues I have presented from time to time. The firm might do better by just hiring paralegals who are willing to look things up. It certainly would save them some money. In any case, if this is an example of the kind of legal help I would get if I am ever sued, I would prefer not to work with that firm. So much for my 400 hours of banked legal time with them. Most recently their Referred attorney failed to call me back after repeated messages. I view referrals such as this as nearly worthless. I've been a member since 2008, but ended my membership at the end of august, 2024. ' just what they were probably looking for: all of the premiums and none the liability. 1.5 Stars overall.

North Carolina is a state that boasts a dynamic blend of urban centers, suburban communities, and rural areas, each with its unique legal considerations. Whether it involves a family dispute, a property transaction, a business contract, or a civil litigation matter, residents often seek legal counsel that is both knowledgeable in state law and accessible within their community. The complexities of the legal system necessitate guidance from experienced professionals who can advocate effectively on behalf of their clients.

In Charlotte, as one of North Carolina's primary economic and cultural hubs, the demand for a wide range of legal services is particularly pronounced. The city's continuous growth and diverse professional landscape mean that individuals and businesses frequently require legal guidance for a multitude of situations. When selecting a law firm, residents often look for a practice that offers comprehensive support, demonstrates professionalism, and is committed to diligent service. This overview will delve into the publicly available information about Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC, offering insights for North Carolinians seeking legal assistance in the Queen City.

The accessibility of legal representation is a practical consideration for clients, particularly when repeated visits or in-person consultations are necessary. Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC, has an office conveniently located at 101 N McDowell St, Charlotte, NC 28204, USA. This address places the firm within the vibrant and central area of downtown Charlotte.

For those relying on public transportation, downtown Charlotte is well-served by the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), with numerous bus routes operating in the vicinity of N McDowell Street. This makes the office accessible for clients who prefer not to drive or do not have personal vehicles. For individuals driving to the office, the central location typically offers various parking options, including nearby parking decks and street parking, though availability may vary depending on the time of day and ongoing city activities. The strategic placement of the office within Charlotte facilitates convenient in-person consultations, which can be essential for discussing sensitive legal issues, reviewing documents, and fostering a clear understanding between attorney and client. Being locally based also means that the firm is intimately familiar with the nuances of the local court system, judicial procedures, and the specific legal landscape of Mecklenburg County, which can be a significant advantage for North Carolina clients navigating legal challenges. This local presence aims to streamline communication and reduce travel burdens, contributing to a smoother legal process for residents throughout the region.

Features / Highlights

Based on the provided customer reviews, here are some points to consider regarding Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC's features and highlights:

  • Established Presence: The client mentioned being a "member since 2008," indicating a long-standing operation and a history of serving clients over many years.
  • Membership Model: The reference to "banked legal time" and "membership" suggests that the firm may operate on a legal services plan model, where clients pay a premium for access to legal advice and potentially discounted rates for specific services.
  • Referral System: The firm appears to have a system for referring clients to "plan attorneys" at "discounted rates."

However, it's also important to acknowledge concerns raised in the reviews regarding:

  • Limited Referral Options: The feedback indicates that the firm might limit referrals to "one plan attorney," which could restrict client choice if they are "unwilling to work with him/her."
  • Depth of Research: Concerns were raised that staff attorneys might provide "General opinion" but not perform "a modicum of research" on complex legal issues, suggesting a potential area for client inquiry.
  • Responsiveness of Referred Attorneys: One review highlighted issues with a "Referred attorney failed to call me back after repeated messages," which could impact the perceived value of referrals.
  • Customer Service Mentality: A review noted a lack of "customer service mentality" and concerns about information safeguarding, implying areas where clients might seek more reassurance regarding data privacy and client-firm interactions.

Prospective clients in North Carolina are encouraged to discuss these aspects directly with the firm to ensure their expectations align with the services offered.

Promotions or Special Offers

Based on the provided reviews, Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC, appears to operate, at least in part, on a "membership" model where clients pay "premiums" for "banked legal time" and access to "discounted rates" with referred attorneys. This structure itself acts as a form of "special offer" or promotion for ongoing legal needs, rather than one-time discounts on specific services. The "discounted rates" are a benefit of this membership. However, specific information regarding introductory offers for new members or other promotions is not explicitly detailed. Prospective clients in North Carolina interested in this membership model or any other potential offers should directly contact the firm to inquire about the details of their plans and fee structures. Understanding the full terms of such a membership, including what services are covered by the banked time and the scope of discounted rates, would be crucial.

The firm's apparent operation as a membership-based legal services provider suggests a model designed for ongoing legal needs, potentially offering value for those who anticipate needing legal advice or services periodically.

For North Carolinians considering legal support, particularly through a membership model that offers banked legal time and discounted rates, it is crucial to engage directly with Merritt, Webb, Wilson & Caruso, PLLC. They definitely don’t have a customer service mentality. I also was not at all comfortable that my information was being properly safeguarded. I mean if dozens of people have access to your info is it actually confidential? Than they could refer you and keep all the info in their system with dozens having access and you don’t even know who they are. NO THANKS, I want to know my information is safe and who has access to it (John, Mary, and Susie) not just dozens of unknown randoms. How can anyone just trust like that?

I wanted to post this review because there are quite a few bad ones. I have legal shield and needed landlord tenant matters in NC. They did an amazing job! They got the issue completely handled within a matter of day! Every time I call an attorney is available. The intake and submission process is easy. It’s definitely work keeping the membership. Thank you Merritt Webb and to the attorneys who helped me.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT use this firm for any reason. I have never interacted with so many rude, disrespectful, unprofessional, incompetent people in all my life. Do not ignore the other reviews with honest one star ratings. They are all true. My impression of Steven Gebo is he was very condescending, narcissistic, and unprofessional. He has a very smug disposition without the ability to have a professional conversation. He cuts you off mid sentence. He makes smug remarks and then laughs about what he says as if he is amused by his own disrespectful behavior and his ability to speak to people anyway he wants. Madison B. Marcantel- Started off fine. She delivers false expectations during the intake process and comes back empty with no progress whatsoever. Her attitude then becomes very unpleasant when she doesn't fulfill the expectation that she was confident that she could provide. Today, I spoke with Danielle Made. Let's start with she called me a 5:27pm. I am assuming that her day was just about over when she decided to call me. Now, this one was the icing on the cake for me. She is probably as bad as Steven. First, she does not allow the client to speak. She cut me off several times all in the short time span of three minutes. She asked me to explain my issue. As I was explaining, several times (and I do mean several) she very rudely and abruptly interrupted me. I asked her if she would allow me to finish what I was trying to say? She then suggested that I hurry up. I calmly explained to her that I will speak at the pace which is comfortable for me. She then hung up on me. Throughout this process, I did not feel that they were interested in representing me. I felt as though they were only interested in protecting the opposing party. I do not know what colleges are teaching these young people these days. It clearly is not kindness or professionalism. I hope that my unfortunate set of occurrences with this firm, along with the others that have shared their experiences will encourage you to look elsewhere for legal representation. No one should have to go through this. This goes beyond professionalism. This firm is verbally abusive to the clients they are supposed to serve. Shame on Legal Shield for partnering and connecting their clients with such an abusive firm.

Services were depending with which attorney we were assigned. I had signed up of 15 years then due to acc transferred there was a gap. I resigned again lately but the service was totally unhelpful, the attorney was rude but I had paid an annual fee, see how the next attorney they will assign me.
