The Messersmith Law Firm specializes primarily in immigration law, offering a comprehensive suite of services designed to guide individuals through the complexities of U.S. immigration processes. Their expertise is particularly highlighted in specific, often challenging, areas of immigration.
National Interest Waiver (NIW) EB2 Green Card Applications: This is a core strength of the firm. They excel in assisting individuals seeking permanent residency through the NIW category, which waives the requirement for a job offer and labor certification if the applicant's work is deemed to be in the national interest of the United States. They have a strong track record of success, even for cases that other firms might consider difficult, such as those with limited academic publications or citations. Their meticulous approach includes:
Comprehensive Document Processing: Unlike some firms that might rely heavily on clients to compile their own documents, Messersmith Law Firm processes all necessary paperwork before submission, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Strategic Case Evaluation: Peter Messersmith is known for his ability to identify a strong case even when initial assessments by other attorneys are discouraging, demonstrating deep knowledge of NIW requirements and successful argumentation.
Employment Authorization Document (EAD) Applications: For clients awaiting approval of their green card applications (such as NIW EB2), the firm assists with applying for EADs, allowing them to legally work in the U.S. while their primary application is pending. They clearly delineate the process and associated fees for these separate applications.
F1 Status Transitions: They have experience working with individuals on F1 (student) visas who are looking to transition to other statuses, such as EB2 NIW, as their OPT (Optional Practical Training) is nearing its end.
General Immigration Needs: While specific examples highlight NIW, the firm's overall focus is on providing tailored solutions for various immigration pathways. They aim to be a comprehensive resource for individuals navigating different stages of their immigration journey to the U.S.
The firm's commitment to transparency in fees and a no-hidden-fees policy, as noted by clients, adds to the clarity and reliability of their services.
The Messersmith Law Firm stands out for several key features and highlights that are consistently praised by their clients, making them a top choice for immigration legal services in Illinois:
Exceptional Success Rate, Especially in Challenging Cases: A prominent highlight is their proven ability to achieve successful outcomes, particularly in complex NIW EB2 green card applications. Clients repeatedly mention that other lawyers had dismissed their chances, but Peter Messersmith and his team saw potential and delivered results, even for those with seemingly "weak" profiles (e.g., fewer publications).
Thorough and Meticulous Document Processing: Unlike some firms that may delegate document compilation to clients, Messersmith Law Firm takes responsibility for processing all necessary documents before submission. This meticulous approach minimizes errors and ensures that applications are robust and complete, significantly streamlining the process for clients.
Transparent and Predictable Fee Structure: Clients consistently appreciate that the firm's attorney fees, though sometimes higher than competitors, are clear from the outset. There are "no additional fees to be charged besides the one mentioned in the contract," providing financial peace of mind and preventing unexpected costs.
Highly Knowledgeable and Patient Attorney: Peter Messersmith is frequently described as "very patient and knowledgeable." He takes the time to explain complex legal concepts and processes, ensuring clients fully understand their options and the steps involved, which is crucial in high-stakes immigration matters.
Dedicated and Supportive Team: The paralegal team, especially Jen, receives high praise for their efficiency, responsiveness, and supportive demeanor. This cohesive team effort contributes significantly to making the "entire process as smooth as possible" and reduces client stress.
Confidence in Client's Case: Peter Messersmith instills confidence in his clients, often expressing belief in the strength of their case even when they might doubt it themselves. This positive and reassuring approach helps clients stay optimistic throughout what can be a lengthy process.
Smooth and Painless Process (Despite Inherent Stress): While immigration is inherently stressful, clients consistently describe their experience with Messersmith Law Firm as "extremely smooth and painless," highlighting the firm's efficiency and proactive management of their cases.
Based on the provided client reviews and standard law firm practices, the Messersmith Law Firm does not appear to advertise traditional "promotions" or "special offers" in the retail sense. Law firms typically operate on a professional fee structure, often billed hourly or on a flat-fee basis for specific services.
However, a significant aspect of their financial approach, which could be considered a form of "offer" in terms of transparency and client confidence, is their clear and upfront fee structure with no hidden costs. As noted by clients: "His attorney fee was not the lowest, but he was the only one processing all our documents before submission and, as other reviewers already mentioned, there are no additional fees to be charged besides the one mentioned in the contract." This commitment to transparency ensures that clients know the full cost of their legal representation from the outset, allowing for better financial planning and preventing unexpected expenses. While separate contracts and fees may apply for distinct services like EAD applications, these are clearly communicated.
It is always advisable for prospective clients to schedule an initial consultation with the Messersmith Law Firm to discuss their specific immigration needs, learn about the applicable fees for their case, and understand the payment structure. Mar 22, 2019 · Leo StrifeMy wife and I were both on F1 status but since her OPT was coming to an end and since she wanted to keep working, we had decided to start looking for an immigration attorney to apply for the NIW EB2 green card. After reading as much reviews as we could, we had realized that Peter seemed to be the suitable attorney for us mostly based on his high ranking and success rate. We contacted him and scheduled an appointment to have a face-to-face conversation. Our first impression after the 90 minutes appointment was very positive. He was very patient and knowledgeable and we hired him the day after the appointment. His attorney fee was not the lowest, but he was the only one processing all our documents before submission and, as other reviewers already mentioned, there are no additional fees to be charged besides the one mentioned in the contract. Despite the fact that I was still in the last months of my PhD and I had only 5 publications at that time, Peter was very confident that I had a very strong case and he was absolutely right. The I140 was approved in about 9 months after submission and we received our green cards 3 months later. This process went extremely smooth and painless for us and we are really grateful. The only downside in our experience was the total price which was high. Since we wanted to keep working, we both had to apply for the EAD card, which require signing a separate contract with its own fees. People should keep in mind that those prices do add up and it can make a significant difference if you don’t budget for it in advance. Besides that, we had a great experience with this law firm. We strongly recommend the Messersmith Law firm for anyone who is a looking for a great immigration attorney.
Jan 31, 2017 · Roby DouillyAfter being recommended by some close friends, I appointed Mr. Peter Messersmith as our immigration lawyer to file our green card application. He filed our green card petition on both EB1A and EB2 category in 2015. He suggested me not to go for premium processing but to file as a concurrent application for EB1A category. Processing of our case got delayed in USCIS for some unknown reason and It took almost 1.5 years to get the green card in hand. Filling concurrent application did not save any time rather we had to do medical exams twice as it was more than a year old. Finally Peter got our cases approved in both categories which we made us very very happy with the outcome. We definitely recommend Messersmith Law firm for green card application. I think Messersmith Law firm handles the cases very professionally. During this entire time, I spoke with Peter only once over phone, rest of the communications was by email. He is very good at answering emails. I also appreciate the helps from Peter's assistant, Jen Ren during the entire time. The only thing I found as cons is - Peter is very expensive compared to the other highly-rated immigration Lawyers. He charges for EAD/AP applications separately which goes with I-485 application and charges for answering any RFEs you receive from USCIS. But at the end of the day, I can't complain because Peter and his law firm gave us the best outcome which we payed for.
Jun 02, 2017 · Animesh DharaI contacted about four attorneys to evaluate my profile for EB-1A GC process and three of them said I wouldn't get it, but Peter confidently said that he filed for GC in EB-1A category for individuals with similar profiles and was successful. So I started working with him. I have seen my peers apply through some attorneys but got RFEs but with Peter, I didn't have to go through it as he was very thorough in everything. Peter and his secretary Jen have always responded to my calls and emails very promptly and this the most important thing when you are dealing with any attorney for any visa. Finally, I got my green card within 7 months of time and I know Peter did a great job. So I would definetly recommend Messersmith Law Firm for your visa application needs.
Feb 10, 2016 · Jeevan MerugaI would like thank to Peter Messersmith and Jen and his staff. Due to my previous lawyers mistake, I almost has fraud issue with my green card application. Peter helped my green card case with a short period, and also spent his own time to review my case. He is patient and professional with full knowledge with the immigration law!!! I expected this to take longer, but I received my green card less then a week because of Peter helping us. I am proudly said that he is the best immigration lawyer in the USA.
