John was extremely dishonest. He agreed to lower his bill if we did not go to trial, he did not do what he promised. He then inflated his bill and sent me to a collection company after he had been paid for everything up front. I would not recommend this attorney, he missed court dates, he got confused and did the same deposition twice. He is not a good or honest attorney in my opinion. I would certainly never recommend him, and should you use him, watch your bill and time spent with him, document everything, he is very dishonest.

Legal services typically offered by attorneys in these fields can include:
Family Law: This often encompasses matters such as divorce, child custody disputes, child support, spousal support, property division, domestic violence issues, and modifications to existing family court orders. It's an area that requires not only legal acumen but also a sensitive and understanding approach due to the personal nature of the cases.
Bankruptcy Law: This area of practice typically assists individuals or businesses facing significant financial distress. Services can include guiding clients through Chapter 7 (liquidation) or Chapter 13 (reorganization) bankruptcy filings, helping with debt consolidation, understanding creditor rights, and navigating the complexities of bankruptcy court procedures. This can be a critical service for those looking to get a fresh financial start.
Given the nature of legal practice, it is common for attorneys to specialize in certain areas while also maintaining a broader understanding of related legal fields. One review, which describes a long-standing professional and personal relationship, praises John A. Miller for consistently being "honest and proficient in his work and personal life." This client has not only used his services personally but has also recommended him to others without any reported issues, suggesting a history of reliable service and positive outcomes for a segment of his clientele.
Conversely, another review provides a significantly negative account, expressing strong dissatisfaction with John A. Miller's services. This client accuses him of dishonesty, specifically alleging that he did not honor an agreement to lower his bill if the case avoided trial and subsequently inflated the bill, leading to collection action despite upfront payment. This review also claims instances of missed court dates and confusion, such as performing the same deposition twice. The client explicitly states they would "certainly never recommend him," urging others to "watch your bill and time spent with him, document everything, he is very dishonest." When evaluating legal professionals within the "Lawyers Near Me" category, it is often recommended to consider a range of feedback. An objective introduction requires presenting both positive and negative aspects, allowing prospective clients to form their own informed decision. It is typical for legal firms to emphasize professionalism, ethical conduct, and successful client outcomes in their promotional materials. However, for John A. Miller, the promotional information primarily comes from the experiences shared by past clients, which are contradictory.
In light of this, prospective clients are advised to take specific actions when considering John A. Miller's services. These actions are standard good practice when engaging any legal professional, but particularly relevant here given the nature of the reviews:
Initial Consultation: Schedule an initial consultation to discuss your case directly with John A. Miller. This allows for a firsthand assessment of his communication style, understanding of your legal issue, and proposed strategy.
Fee Structure: Clearly discuss and obtain a detailed understanding of his fee structure. Request a written agreement outlining all costs, hourly rates, and any potential for additional charges, as well as clear terms regarding payment schedules and how fees might be adjusted based on case progression (e.g., if a trial is avoided).
Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of all communications, meetings, and financial transactions with the attorney and his office. Document dates, times, topics discussed, and any agreements made.
References: If possible, ask for references from past clients whose cases were similar to yours, keeping in mind that attorneys typically provide references from satisfied clients.
Bar Association Check: Verify his standing with the Washington State Bar Association to check for any disciplinary actions or public complaints, as such bodies maintain records of attorney conduct and licensing.

Mar 07, 2016 · D CI am writing this mainly to counter the one bad review John received. I have know John (and his family) my whole life. I have used his services and recommended his services to clients for many years. I have never known him to be anything but honest and proficient in his work and personal life. I have never referred anyone whoever had problems with him either.
