I contacted Ms. Mistrella in October 2021 to write an employee contract for me (I’m the employer). It was a simple, pay back a loan contract. I was offered a FREE consultation in which her assistant called and got an overview of what the contract needed to state. I paid the $1000 as they requested. They scheduled my appointment two or three weeks out (November 22 at 11am). It happened to be during my busiest time of year, but I rearranged my schedule to make it work. My employee was ecstatic that we were almost ready to proceed. 45 minutes before my scheduled appointment, I received an email, not even a phone call, that asked if I could reschedule for the following day. I explained it was my busiest time of year and my employee and I had been waiting for weeks for this appointment. The assistant spoke with Ms. Mistrella. Yes, she had time to speak with her assistant but not with me. Ms. Mistrella told her assistant to tell me that she did not have time to meet with me. In the time she took to negotiate with me thru her assistant, she could have met with me. Very unprofessional and a complete disregard of the impact on my employee! This was money to pay for her to go to school.

Services Offered

Based on available public information, including client reviews, Dawn T. Mistretta's legal services appear to encompass aspects of business and contract law, particularly focusing on the drafting of legal documents for employers. While a comprehensive list of all practice areas is not explicitly provided in the given data, the noted client interaction specifically involved:

  • Employee Contract Drafting: Assisting employers in creating legally sound employee contracts. The provided review indicates experience with drafting contracts related to loan repayment between an employer and an employee. This suggests expertise in ensuring that contractual agreements clearly state terms and conditions, protecting the interests of the employer.
  • Legal Consultation: Providing consultations to prospective clients to understand their legal needs and outline how legal services can address those needs. The review mentions an "offered a FREE consultation" in which an assistant gathered an overview of the required contract. This indicates a process of initial assessment before formal engagement.

Given the nature of contract drafting for businesses, it is reasonable to infer that Ms. Mistretta's practice may also handle other related business legal services, potentially including general contract review, business agreements, and basic legal advice for small to medium-sized enterprises in North Carolina, although these are not explicitly confirmed by the provided information.

Features / Highlights

Based on the provided customer review, specific features and highlights of Dawn T. Mistretta's service delivery can be inferred, particularly related to her initial engagement process. These include:

  • Free Initial Consultation Offer: The firm offers a "FREE consultation" as a preliminary step. This allows potential clients to discuss their needs and receive an overview of how the firm can assist without an upfront financial commitment for the initial discussion.
  • Assistant-Led Initial Overview: During the consultation phase, an assistant is involved in gathering initial information and providing an overview of what the contract or legal service might entail. This suggests a structured intake process.
  • Upfront Fee Request: For services requested, the firm requires payment upfront, as evidenced by the client paying "$1000 as they requested" for the contract drafting. This indicates a clear billing policy where fees are collected prior to the commencement of work.

While the review highlights a negative experience regarding scheduling and communication, the initial offerings of a free consultation and a clear upfront fee structure are procedural aspects of the firm's operations. The client's expectation for a prompt and direct meeting after payment also indicates the importance of these elements in a client's perception of service quality.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a professional legal service provider, Dawn T. Mistretta's practice does not typically engage in "promotions" or "special offers" in the commercial retail sense. Legal services are tailored to individual client needs, and fees are based on the complexity and scope of the work involved.

This can be considered a significant "special offer" in the legal field, as it allows prospective clients to discuss their legal needs, get an initial overview of the required services (like contract drafting), and understand the potential scope of work without any upfront financial commitment for that initial discussion. This provides a valuable opportunity for individuals and businesses in North Carolina to explore their legal options and determine if the firm is the right fit for their specific requirements before formally engaging their services and incurring fees. While payment is requested upfront for the actual service, the complimentary initial consultation serves as an accessible entry point to legal advice.
