Don’t use this place! Hired them paid 5k to Spencer. Talked to him that one time when I hired him. Mind you I live 4 hours away from where I had to hire him and that where the case was out of. It took almost a year to get a court date, but within that year, I hadn’t heard from Spencer one time well, his secretary called to tell me that there was a court date and I asked her is he gonna talk to me and make a plan or how we’re gonna fight this child support case. She said he will contact you. Well I didn’t hear from them till day of court. He sent a different lawyer he just hired and I never spoke with. To the point they had to text me the morning of court day to tell me what she looked like and where she was sitting. Well we kinda won I will admit that. But only cause of my medical not any doing of their work. Well, that was the last time we went to court I ended up getting custody because the mother and drugs and abuse from cps. Well never went back to court took them weeks to get my final orders. Never got any money back. I highly doubt one court date in filing some paperwork cost $5000. But since then we have found out that one of the child is not even mine and I asked that new Lawyer at the court that day should we take a DNA test she told me that it doesn’t matter I signed acknowledgment of paternity Well here I am six months later took my own dna test and boys not mine. Can’t get them on the phone or to help just responded with my Multitude of phone calls with the email saying nothing you can do about it! I have now since then hired another lawyer, who is on top of it and doing their job. Stay away from this law firm it’s a joke. They will keep your money not stay in contact with you. Find a different lawyer. The The communication is none existent, they tried to convince me the only court day that it was a huge win! Witch we didn’t get child support raised because of me being on disability. Nothing they did. His young lawyer named Maddison seems to be more for the mom I was against then for me! FIND A DIFFERENT LAW FIRM!! Run from these jokers.

Nilsson Legal Group Divorce Attorney Introduce

The "Lawyers Near Me" platform serves as a resource for individuals seeking legal representation, offering insights into various law practices. This introduction provides an objective overview of Nilsson Legal Group Divorce Attorney, a firm located in Fort Worth, Texas, based on publicly available information and client reviews. The firm's focus, as indicated by its name, is primarily on divorce and related family law matters.

Nilsson Legal Group Divorce Attorney is situated at 1102 Samuels Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76102, USA. This address places the firm in a central location within Fort Worth, potentially offering accessibility to clients within the city and surrounding areas. While specific details about the interior environment of the office are not provided, an office building in a commercial or historic district typically implies a professional setting, designed to facilitate confidential client meetings. Clients can contact the firm via phone at (817) 953-6688 or mobile phone at +1 817-953-6688 for inquiries or to discuss their legal needs.

Based on the firm's name and client reviews, Nilsson Legal Group Divorce Attorney specializes in family law, specifically handling cases related to:

  • Divorce: Assisting individuals through the legal process of dissolving a marriage, which can involve complex issues such as property division, spousal support, and child custody arrangements.
  • Child Support: Representing clients in establishing, modifying, or enforcing child support orders.
  • Child Custody: Handling disputes and arrangements regarding parental rights and responsibilities, visitation schedules, and the best interests of the child.
  • Termination of Parental Rights: As evidenced by a client review, the firm has experience with cases involving the termination of parental rights, particularly in complex situations.

The features and performance of Nilsson Legal Group, as described by clients, present a mixed picture. Some clients indicate that their cases ultimately reached a resolution, which is a fundamental outcome in legal representation. However, several critical concerns have been raised regarding the firm's operations and client experience.

A recurring theme in client feedback revolves around communication. One client explicitly states, "The communication is none existent." They report hiring Spencer, paying a significant retainer of $5,000, and then experiencing a lack of contact for almost a year leading up to a court date. Even when a court date was set, direct communication from Spencer was reportedly absent until the day of court. Another client echoed this, mentioning that the law firm "took a few days to a week and sometimes it took a second email for them to respond to anything." This suggests inconsistent or delayed responsiveness, which can be particularly stressful for clients navigating sensitive family law matters.

Another significant concern highlighted in client reviews pertains to attorney continuity and client familiarity. One client reported that Spencer sent a different, newly hired lawyer, Maddison, to court without prior introduction or discussion regarding the case strategy. The client only received a text message on the morning of court day to identify the attorney. This lack of continuity and pre-court preparation with the assigned attorney is a serious point of contention for clients who expect their hired counsel to be directly involved and familiar with their case details.

Billing practices and perceived value for money also appear to be areas of concern. One client questioned the $5,000 charge for "one court date in filing some paperwork," expressing doubt that the work justified the cost. Another client, who successfully terminated parental rights in what they described as an "easy slam dunk case," still felt it "shouldn’t have cost this much." This client was initially quoted a $5,000 retainer but was later asked for an additional $10,000 for trial preparation, ultimately spending $7,000 of that additional retainer for just 3-4 days of prep without going to trial. This suggests that clients may experience unpredictable or higher-than-expected costs, leading to dissatisfaction regarding financial transparency and management.

Clients also expressed concerns about the firm's strategy and preparation. One client felt that their "win" in a child support case was due to their medical condition, not the firm's work. They also noted that the young lawyer, Maddison, seemed more aligned with the opposing party. In another instance, clients felt that the firm "had to scramble to get the case together as they admitted they hadn’t really looked at the case over the last 6 months for trial." This lack of proactive preparation and strategic foresight led clients to believe that they were "duped" and spent "all this money and time for nothing," with their lawyer reportedly not anticipating critical developments.

Promotional information, based on the client experiences, might implicitly emphasize securing positive outcomes for clients in family law matters. However, the existing reviews suggest that while some outcomes are achieved, the journey to those outcomes can be challenging for clients due to communication issues, perceived lack of direct attorney involvement, and financial concerns. The firm's name, "Divorce Attorney," clearly promotes its specialization in this area, attracting individuals specifically seeking assistance with marital dissolution and related issues. The emphasis on "Legal Group" might suggest a team approach, but client experiences sometimes indicate a disconnect between the initial attorney hired and the attorney who ultimately handles court appearances.

In summary, Nilsson Legal Group Divorce Attorney, located at 1102 Samuels Ave, Fort Worth, TX, offers legal services in family law, including divorce, child support, child custody, and termination of parental rights. While the firm has reportedly achieved resolutions for some clients, significant concerns have been raised regarding communication deficiencies, unexpected attorney changes, perceived lack of proactive case management, and issues with billing and affordability. For local users on "Lawyers Near Me" considering Nilsson Legal Group, these client experiences provide crucial insights into the firm's operational features, suggesting a need for clear communication and detailed engagement regarding case strategy and fees from the outset. Clients are advised to carefully consider these reported experiences when making their selection for legal representation in family law matters.

I will start off by saying our case did get resolved, but this was also an easy slam dunk case that shouldn’t have cost this much. We were trying to terminate the biological mother’s parental rights but she was charged with murder and plead to manslaughter and had been in prison for the last 2.5 years and looking at 8 more years and had not had contact with the 5 year old child for the last 3 years. I initially was told this could all be resolved for $5k retainer and that’s why we hired Spencer. However, at the docket call the other side wanted to proceed with jury trial which no one expected. They had to scramble to get the case together as they admitted they hadn’t really looked at the case over the last 6 months for trial on a Monday. We were told he needed another 10k to go to trial. Well they prepped for trial (mostly the paralegal) and last minute on Friday right before the trial, the mother signed over her parental rights. 3-4 days of prep and not going to trial blew through $7k of our retainer in addition to the initial $5k we gave them?? We expected something like $5k but $7k? How much more would we have had to pay if we had gone to trial which the they thought would last 2 days?? Definitely look at the prices and sign something in writing before you hire them The mother and her lawyer stalled and duped us and our lawyer into spending all this money and time for nothing and our lawyer did not anticipate any of this. The law firm also acted like they were very busy with other cases. They took a few days to a week and sometimes it took a second email for them to respond to anything. I would say not the worst but not the best law firm given our experience. If I could go back I think I would’ve gone with another firm honestly.

This firm has done very very little in attempting to finalize my case. Even after 4 months following mediation has completed, law firm still has not completed the paperwork necessary to close things out. In my opinion, it is a billing factory. Beware.

I was in a recent custody battle and needed an attorney for representation. I went on Google and found the Nilsson’s Legal Group. Had a conversation with Mr. Spencer Nilsson and he assured me of plan of action for my hearing. Here I am 6 months later with custody of my 2 children and child support free. I would recommend them to anyone who needs legal assistance in their child support hearings. Spencer did what he said he was going to do and he kept his word! Thanks again to The Nilsson Legal Group for all your help!

Spencer and his team is handling a strange case for me, my ex girlfriend is trying to take custody of son, even though we are not married just a ex girlfriend. Him and his team are on top of things at all times and it is going great. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a family law attorney. I will update next month when we go to court.
