North Penn Legal Services Introduce

Welcome to Lawyers Near Me, your platform for finding legal assistance in your community. If you are a resident of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, or the surrounding areas and are facing legal challenges but have limited financial resources, North Penn Legal Services, located at 559 Main St Suite 200, Bethlehem, PA 18018, USA, may be able to provide the help you need. You can contact them by phone at (610) 317-8757 or via mobile phone at +1 610-317-8757 to inquire about their services and eligibility requirements.

North Penn Legal Services is a non-profit organization that aims to provide free legal assistance to individuals who meet specific financial eligibility criteria. Their presence in Suite 200 on Main Street in Bethlehem suggests a professional office setting where they can meet with clients and work on their cases. The client reviews available online offer contrasting perspectives on the services provided by this organization and its attorneys.

One review expresses immense gratitude towards Megan Moore, an attorney at North Penn Legal Services, for her assistance in court. The reviewer and their husband "truly appreciate" the help they received and explicitly recommend North Penn Legal Services to anyone needing "expert legal assistance for free," provided they meet the financial eligibility requirements. The reviewer confirms their own eligibility and highlights the value of having Megan Moore represent them, stating, "It's totally worth it." This positive feedback underscores the organization's mission to provide crucial legal support to those who cannot afford it and suggests that some clients have very positive experiences with their attorneys.

However, another review presents a significantly negative experience with a different attorney, Mr. Edward Crow, who was assigned to the client as a pro bono lawyer after they contacted North Penn Legal Services. This reviewer strongly advises against having Mr. Crow on one's side. They recount a series of issues, starting with Mr. Crow's handling of an appeal. According to the review, Mr. Crow submitted paperwork that was mishandled by the court, leading to another hearing that required an appeal. The client alleges that instead of handling the appeal himself, Mr. Crow wanted the client to complete the court paperwork and pay the appeal fees. The client points out that as an attorney representing pro bono, Mr. Crow could have likely filed the appeal and explained the pro bono status to potentially waive the fees.

The situation reportedly worsened when Mr. Crow allegedly demanded the client pay the fees, even after seemingly acknowledging the pro bono status and potential fee exemption. The reviewer emphasizes their vulnerable situation as someone recovering from a stroke and being part of a low-income family, which was the very reason they sought help from North Penn Legal Services. The interaction reportedly ended poorly, with Mr. Crow allegedly yelling at the client during a phone conversation. The reviewer concludes with a strong condemnation of this behavior, stating, "This is not the way to help the poor or disabled..!!!" This review raises serious concerns about the client's experience with one of the attorneys at North Penn Legal Services, particularly regarding communication, understanding of pro bono procedures, and sensitivity towards vulnerable clients.

Given these contrasting reviews, it is essential for potential clients of North Penn Legal Services to understand that experiences may vary depending on the specific attorney assigned and the nature of their case. The positive review highlights the potential for receiving expert and valuable legal assistance free of charge for those who are financially eligible, with attorneys like Megan Moore providing commendable support in court.

On the other hand, the negative review serves as a cautionary tale, indicating potential issues with communication, handling of pro bono cases, and client interaction with at least one attorney within the organization. It underscores the importance for individuals seeking assistance to have clear expectations and to communicate openly with their assigned attorney regarding procedures, fees (if any), and the progress of their case.

North Penn Legal Services' core feature is its provision of free legal services to eligible low-income individuals. This is a crucial resource for those who would otherwise be unable to afford legal representation, ensuring access to justice for a wider segment of the community in Bethlehem and surrounding areas. The eligibility criteria are based on financial need, and potential clients should inquire about these requirements during their initial contact.

The services offered likely cover a range of civil legal issues affecting low-income individuals, although the specific types of cases handled are not detailed in these reviews. Based on the positive review involving court assistance, it can be inferred that they provide representation in legal proceedings. The negative review touches upon appeal processes, suggesting that they may also handle post-trial matters.

As a form of "promotional" information, the positive review acts as a strong endorsement for the value of North Penn Legal Services, particularly for those who qualify for free assistance. The mention of "expert legal assistance for free" is a significant draw for individuals facing financial constraints and legal challenges. However, the negative review highlights the importance of managing expectations and ensuring clear communication with the assigned attorney.

For local users in Bethlehem, PA, who are seeking free legal assistance and believe they meet the financial eligibility requirements, North Penn Legal Services offers a potentially invaluable resource. The positive experience with Megan Moore demonstrates the organization's capacity to provide expert legal support and achieve positive outcomes for their clients. However, the negative experience with Mr. Crow suggests that the quality of service and client interaction can vary. Potential clients should approach North Penn Legal Services with an understanding of both the potential benefits and the possibility of encountering challenges.

We encourage individuals who are interested in seeking assistance from North Penn Legal Services to contact them at (610) 317-8757 or +1 610-317-8757 to inquire about their eligibility criteria, the types of legal cases they handle, and the process of being assigned an attorney. It may also be beneficial to ask about the attorney's experience in handling cases similar to yours and their communication practices.

Lawyers Near Me aims to provide an objective overview of legal services available in your area. The information presented here regarding North Penn Legal Services reflects the experiences of two different clients, offering both a positive perspective on the value of their free legal assistance and a negative perspective on the handling of a specific case. We recommend that potential clients consider these viewpoints and conduct their own due diligence when seeking legal aid from this or any other organization.

Mr Edward Crow is not the attorney you want on your side so I called north Penn they put this lawer on my side as a pro-bono after sending paperwork to him he was supposed to appeal in writing or personally he submitted paperwork and the court mishandled his letter so he got another court hearing that he needed to appeal instead he wanted me to do all the court paperwork and appeal with court fee’s when it would have been much more easier for him as an attorney to walk in file and explain he’s doing it pro bono making me exempt to any fees …after he also told me this information then he must have forgotten because he then was demanding for me to go pay the fees… Knowing I was sick from a stoke and I was low income family….thats why I called for help from north Penn and he ended up just trying to yell at me as we ended our phone conversation…. This is not the way to help the poor or disabled..!!!

I called to think I was getting legal help and all I got was Nicole Heritage who was telling us we were wrong about everything when we already know our tenant rights. You’re better off representing yourself with some research vs getting help from these “lawyers”.

Mellon Esq, was such a great relief for me. He nipped all of my issues in the bud as soon as I met with him. The first service he did pro Bono, didn’t charge me full price for any services there after. I was in a toxic situation, he handled the opposite party appropriately and managed the situation with compassion. All I needed was my signature and physical presence for an over the phone meeting. This guy knows how to deal with narcissistic and manipulative behavior. He listens well and gives you honest to the bone answers. If you go to him with a topic that he doesn’t deal with he will refer you to someone who does. All thanks to North Penn.
