Mr.Garcia represented my son as his GAL in a custody battle between me and his father for a year. The case ended around this time last year and a memory had appeared on my phone hence my review now, and if I’m taking the time to write it it’s mainly to warn other parents… There were many occasions Mr.Garcia proved to be unethical and petulant in his profession and for his age. My son had reunification therapy with his father and the counselor present had recommended individual counseling for the father and I but in front of the judge he only mentioned how I was recommended counseling which created a poor narrative. When I mentioned it to the counselor she quickly clarified it wasn’t just me it was both parents and realized his bias towards men, she was horrified and apologetic. I had noticed his favoritism in men since our initial interview considering he spent the majority of it sharing his divorce and custody experience with his ex wife and praising how he raised his son. Since the beginning I expressed to Mr.Garcia that the father of my son had no interest in being a father based of previous patterns yet me and the father of my son had still came to an agreement of shared custody and drafted a 16 page document discussing holidays, parenting time, and etc. and when we went into a meeting with Mr.Garcia he completely disregarded our document and had my ex request more parenting time when I knew that’s not what my ex wanted but simply agreed to rattle me. He pinned up against each other when he was supposed to try doing the opposite and be glad we came to an agreement. Mr.Garcia extended the time of our custody battle for MONTHS by doing this only for my ex to give up ALL his rights and responsibilities the day it was going to be granted. My ex was already showing signs of what I had told Mr.Garcia in the beginning that he had no interest in being a father- he would show up 20/30 minutes late to EVERY reunification therapy session and cancelled twice (yet that wasn’t disclosed to the judge) and he stopped seeing our son months prior to the case ending and hasn’t seen him since. You can imagine how costly it was for me considering I had also agreed to pay my ex’s lawyer fees just so we could end the case. Mr. Garcia had also racked up how much I had to pay in lawyer fees due to lack of communication. He won’t speak to anyone who isn’t “his client” (his client in this case being my son, a child that was 1 and 2 during this time and couldn’t speak) so I would have to pay my lawyer to speak to him, then pay my lawyer to speak to Mr.Garcia, pay Mr.Garcia for speaking to my lawyer, then pay my lawyer to speak to me again on what was discussed. So much money piled up that was unnecessary if he was just willing to be professional and speak with the parents of his clients directly since I obviously can’t put my one/two year old on the phone, money that I obviously didn’t just have laying around as the primary care taker of my son and a college student, with no financial support whatsoever from the father either. Mr.Garcia had never even had an interview with my son “his client”, and he was supposed to from my understanding…so how can you defend a child you never took the time to meet? not knowing what he looks like? my son was a name on a piece of paper and Mr.Garcia did more damage than good. He would also make remarks like “well dad gets to be the fun parent on weekends while you’re stuck with all the responsibility”. there’s a lot more I can share but overall everyone who dealt with Mr.Garcia during the case was more than overwhelmed. Based off his other reviews he tries to defend himself by saying “well you’re not my client” because our underaged children are, whom have no say in anything and aren’t on here sharing their experience of having him as a GAL. If you can get out of having him as your child’s GAL I would highly recommend it. I hope this helps someone

Paul Garcia Atty At Law Introduce

Navigating legal issues, especially those as sensitive and impactful as child custody battles, requires careful consideration when choosing legal representation. For residents across Illinois, particularly in the Chicago area, understanding the experiences of past clients can be a critical step in making an informed decision about a legal professional. This article aims to provide a clear and informative overview of Paul Garcia Atty At Law, located in Chicago, IL, to help users in the Illinois region learn more about this place and what to expect based on public feedback.

When a lawyer serves as a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL), their role is to represent the best interests of a child in legal proceedings, often in custody or visitation disputes. This is a highly sensitive and crucial position, requiring impartiality, thorough investigation, and effective communication with all parties involved, including the parents and the court. Prospective clients and parents should be fully informed about a GAL's approach and how they engage with cases, especially when the "client" is a minor child who cannot directly advocate for themselves.

Based on publicly available feedback, client experiences with Paul Garcia Atty At Law, particularly concerning his role as a Guardian Ad Litem, have raised significant concerns. One detailed review states, "Mr. Garcia represented my son as his GAL in a custody battle… if I’m taking the time to write it it’s mainly to warn other parents… There were many occasions Mr. Garcia proved to be unethical and petulant in his profession and for his age." The reviewer goes on to describe concerns about perceived bias towards men, a lack of disclosure to the judge regarding the father's missed therapy sessions, disregard for a previously agreed-upon parenting document, and an extension of the custody battle that ultimately led to the father relinquishing parental rights. The review also highlights significant communication difficulties and high costs, noting, "He won’t speak to anyone who isn’t 'his client'… so I would have to pay my lawyer to speak to him, then pay my lawyer to speak to Mr. Garcia, pay Mr. Garcia for speaking to my lawyer, then pay my lawyer to speak to me again on what was discussed. So much money piled up that was unnecessary if he was just willing to be professional and speak with the parents of his clients directly." Furthermore, the client expressed dismay that Mr. Garcia "had never even had an interview with my son 'his client'… so how can you defend a child you never took the time to meet?" Another concise review echoed similar sentiments: "Terrible experience. From the beginnings he never focus on the situation. He gave advice to the other party to stray from the case for which he was assigned in court. He has no professional ethics. Please run away for his service." These reviews collectively suggest significant issues with communication, ethical conduct, perceived bias, and overall client satisfaction, particularly in cases where Mr. Garcia served as a GAL.

Location and Accessibility

Paul Garcia Atty At Law is located in Chicago, Illinois, offering a potentially convenient location for residents within the city's diverse neighborhoods. The office is situated at 4452 N Kedzie Ave, Chicago, IL 60625, USA. This address places the firm within the Albany Park neighborhood on Chicago's northwest side, an area characterized by a mix of residential and commercial spaces.

Kedzie Avenue is a major north-south thoroughfare in Chicago, making the office accessible by car from various parts of the city. While street parking in Chicago can sometimes be challenging, options may be available in the immediate vicinity of the office or on nearby side streets. For those relying on public transportation, the Kedzie Brown Line 'L' station is within reasonable walking distance, and several CTA bus routes run along Kedzie Avenue and parallel streets, offering extensive connectivity throughout the city. This accessibility via both private vehicle and public transit makes the office relatively easy to reach for many Chicago residents. Its location in a well-established urban neighborhood means it is integrated into the local community, serving clients from various backgrounds. However, the convenience of the location should be weighed against other factors, particularly the client experiences highlighted in the reviews.

Services Offered

Based on the provided client reviews, the primary legal service highlighted for Paul Garcia Atty At Law is his role as a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL), specifically in child custody battles.

  • Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) Services in Child Custody Cases: This is the most explicitly detailed service in the reviews. As a GAL, Mr. Garcia's role is to act on behalf of a minor child, representing their best interests in court proceedings, particularly during disputes between parents over custody and visitation. The reviews describe his involvement in a year-long custody battle, indicating experience in this specialized area of family law. The GAL's duties typically involve conducting interviews with parents, children (if old enough), therapists, and other relevant parties, reviewing documents, and providing recommendations to the court regarding what is best for the child. The reviews, however, raise concerns about how these duties were reportedly carried out, including:

    • Lack of Direct Child Interview: A significant concern noted by the reviewer was that Mr. Garcia "had never even had an interview with my son 'his client'… so how can you defend a child you never took the time to meet?" This directly challenges a core responsibility of a GAL.
    • Recommendations to the Court: The review mentions Mr. Garcia's recommendations to the judge, including counseling for one parent (rather than both, as recommended by a therapist) and influencing requests for parenting time.

While the reviews focus heavily on his GAL services, it is common for attorneys who serve as GALs to also practice other areas of family law, such as divorce, legal separation, child support, or adoption. However, based solely on the provided information, his primary demonstrated service is as a Guardian Ad Litem in child custody disputes. For any other potential legal services, direct inquiry with Paul Garcia Atty At Law would be necessary.

Features / Highlights

Based on the provided public reviews, the features and highlights of Paul Garcia Atty At Law, particularly concerning his role as a Guardian Ad Litem, are predominantly negative and focus on significant concerns regarding professional conduct and client experience:

  • Perceived Unethical Conduct and Bias: A major highlight, though negative, is the client's assertion that Mr. Garcia "proved to be unethical and petulant in his profession." This includes accusations of bias towards men, failing to disclose relevant information (like missed therapy sessions by one parent) to the judge, and actively working against a parental agreement. One review explicitly states, "He has no professional ethics."

  • Poor Communication Practices: A significant concern highlighted is Mr. Garcia's alleged refusal to speak with parents directly if they are not his "client" (i.e., the child), necessitating communication through their respective lawyers. This convoluted process reportedly led to "so much money piled up that was unnecessary" and a general "lack of communication."

  • Lack of Client Engagement (for GAL services): A critical point of contention is the claim that Mr. Garcia "had never even had an interview with my son 'his client'." For a Guardian Ad Litem, direct engagement with the child is often considered fundamental to representing their best interests, making this a significant negative highlight.

  • Prolonging Cases and Increasing Costs: The review alleges that Mr. Garcia "extended the time of our custody battle for MONTHS" by disregarding parental agreements and encouraging more conflict. This led to increased legal fees for the family, described as "costly" and "unnecessary."

  • Questionable Judgment and Remarks: The reviewer cites specific remarks made by Mr. Garcia, such as "well dad gets to be the fun parent on weekends while you’re stuck with all the responsibility," which suggests a lack of impartiality or sensitivity. The accusation that "He gave advice to the other party to stray from the case for which he was assigned in court" also points to highly questionable professional conduct.

  • Overall Negative Client Experience: Both reviews clearly state "Terrible experience" and advise others to "Please run away for his service" and to "get out of having him as your child’s GAL." These strong condemnations indicate widespread dissatisfaction among the reviewers.

These "highlights" are derived directly from the provided critical feedback. It is crucial for prospective clients to be aware of these reported experiences when considering legal services from Paul Garcia Atty At Law, especially in Guardian Ad Litem roles.

Promotions or Special Offers

The provided information does not mention any specific promotions or special offers from Paul Garcia Atty At Law. As with many legal professionals, promotional activities like discounts or special packages are not typically advertised. Law firms generally focus on their legal expertise and client service rather than traditional retail promotions.

When engaging with a lawyer, particularly for sensitive and complex matters like those involving family law or Guardian Ad Litem services, the focus is usually on understanding the legal strategy, the attorney's experience, and the fee structure for their services. Potential clients in Illinois would need to contact Paul Garcia Atty At Law directly to inquire about their fees, billing practices, and whether they offer any form of initial consultation. This direct communication is the only way to obtain specific information regarding their service costs and client engagement policies. Given the concerns raised in the reviews regarding communication and cost, it would be particularly important for prospective clients to seek clear and detailed information on these matters upfront.

Contact Information

For individuals in Chicago and the wider Illinois region who need to contact Paul Garcia Atty At Law, the following details are available:

  • Address: 4452 N Kedzie Ave, Chicago, IL 60625, USA

  • Phone: (773) 588-8880

  • Mobile Phone: +1 773-588-8880

These contact points allow individuals to reach out to the office. It is important for those contacting the firm to be prepared with their specific inquiry and understand the firm's communication policies, especially given the concerns raised in the public reviews about communication limitations and cost implications.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

When assessing the suitability of Paul Garcia Atty At Law for locals in Illinois, particularly for sensitive cases like child custody where a Guardian Ad Litem is involved, it is imperative to consider the comprehensive feedback provided by past clients. While the firm's physical location offers accessibility, the suitability from a service perspective appears to be significantly challenged by the detailed client experiences.

From a logistical standpoint, the office at 4452 N Kedzie Ave in Chicago, IL, is situated in an urban neighborhood, making it potentially convenient for Chicago residents via both private vehicle and public transport. This geographic accessibility is a practical consideration for anyone needing legal services within the city.

However, the overwhelming and detailed negative reviews raise serious concerns about the firm's suitability, particularly for its role as a Guardian Ad Litem. The accusations of "unethical and petulant" behavior, "bias towards men," and a reported failure to interview the child client are critical issues that directly impact the core responsibilities of a GAL. Furthermore, the complaints about deliberately prolonging cases, generating "unnecessary" fees due to restrictive communication policies (e.g., requiring communication through other lawyers for a child client), and a general "lack of professional ethics" are very significant. The advice to "run away for his service" and to "get out of having him as your child’s GAL" represents a strong warning from those who have direct experience.

For local users in Illinois seeking legal representation, especially in high-stakes family law matters where a GAL may be appointed, these reviews indicate that Paul Garcia Atty At Law may not be the most suitable choice if transparency, direct communication, impartiality, and cost-effectiveness are paramount. While the location is convenient, the reported client experiences suggest that individuals may face substantial challenges and dissatisfaction. Prospective clients are strongly advised to consider these factors thoroughly and explore other options to ensure they secure legal representation that aligns with their expectations for professional conduct and client care.

Terrible experience. From the beginnings he never focus on the situation. He gave advice to the other party to stray from the case for which he was assigned in court. He has no professional ethics. Please run away for his service.

Paul was recently appointed as the GAL on my child custody case. If I could give him ZERO stars I would. During my first meeting with him, he showed up almost 15 minutes late, which now looking at my itemized bill I realized I was charged for. He did absolutely no research on our case and had not even opened up our file. During our whole encounter he referred to my son by a name that was not his and spent most of our meeting talking about HIS divorce and HIS custody battle. At the end of the meeting he told me I was not to contact him and he would reach out to me if he needed anything. During court he was not up to date on our case and told my attorney he would have no time to speak with us prior to going before the judge. I believe the person who is representing my child in court should be knowledgeable of all things going on in regards to the child and both mom and dad. When I asked for an itemized bill at the end of our short time with him, he of course found a way to spend my total of the $1,500 I had put towards the retainer, but my son’s father was the one that would be getting back. I put Paul’s bill next to my attorneys bill and the time he put for court was almost double the time that I was charged for my own attorney. I do not think Paul has the best interest of his clients and he is just looking for a way to take people’s money. He was not compassionate and definitely did not have time.

He represented me in my case, did a good job. Keep in mind that an attorney will not give you a minute by minute updates on your case. I learned that the hard way. Paul got me out of paying child support, shared custody and didn't drag my case. His prices were decent too. I'd recommend him, but don't expect constant updates unless its important information to pass to you.

I've had legal advice from Attorney Garcia on different matters. He definitely takes an interest regardless of being paid or not. He is knowledgeable and his professionalism shows. I've recommended friends and family for his legal advice and all situations have had a positive outcome. I highly recommend him as an attorney.
