I was referred to this law firm through the Milwaukee bar. The attorney in question spent about forty minutes on the phone upon initial contact. I filed a discrimination suit. My first red flag was that there was never an intake process done. The second red flag was that as time went by the attorney was slow to respond or not at all for weeks, as the window for right to sue was coming to a close.Third red flag, was after my last contact to firm as to whether or not the suit was filed, this attorney calls me back from personal vehicle and says that the firm is merging with law firm that represents opposing side and that's bad news for me. Really! Mergers just don't happen overnight so this attorney was purposely letting precious time lapse by at my expense. Playing both sides of the fence information that I provided could and perhaps was used against myself. Did this firm/attorney cross ethical lines? Very unfortunate way of calling themselves professionals. This tells me that the attorney in question did not see that I had a legal stance to begin with or wasn't looking out for my best interest at onset.

Peterson Johnson & Murray SC Introduce

When seeking legal representation in Wisconsin, finding a law firm that aligns with your needs and expectations is paramount. The legal process, particularly in areas like civil litigation or discrimination claims, can be complex and emotionally taxing. For residents of Milwaukee and surrounding areas, understanding the reputation and practices of a firm is a critical first step. This article aims to provide an overview of Peterson Johnson & Murray SC, a Milwaukee-based law firm, by presenting publicly available information, including client feedback, to help local users make informed decisions.

Peterson Johnson & Murray SC is a firm that represents both public and private clients across various civil litigation matters, including employment law, civil rights, and regulatory issues. Their website states a commitment to providing comprehensive legal services with a focus on efficiency and achieving positive client outcomes. They emphasize having a diverse team of litigators who strive to go "above and beyond" for their clients and possess "inside knowledge" to stay ahead of opponents.

However, it's also important to consider all perspectives when evaluating a law firm. The provided client reviews highlight significant concerns regarding communication, perceived conflicts of interest, and the attorney-client relationship. These experiences underscore the importance of due diligence and clear communication throughout the legal process. While the firm's website articulates a strong commitment to client service and ethical practice, these specific client experiences raise questions that prospective clients should carefully consider and discuss during initial consultations.

Location and Accessibility

Peterson Johnson & Murray SC is located at 788 N Jefferson St #500, Milwaukee, WI 53202, USA. This address places the firm in a central and highly accessible area of downtown Milwaukee, making it convenient for clients throughout Wisconsin.

The Jefferson Street location is situated within a vibrant commercial and legal district, ensuring easy navigation for visitors. Downtown Milwaukee offers robust public transportation options, including various Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus routes with stops within comfortable walking distance of the firm's office. For those traveling by car, numerous parking garages and metered street parking are available in the surrounding blocks. This central location in a professional office building provides a formal and accessible environment for legal consultations. The firm's presence in a key area of Milwaukee reinforces its ability to serve a wide range of clients from across the city and the broader Wisconsin region effectively.

Features / Highlights

Based on the firm's publicly available information, Peterson Johnson & Murray SC highlights several features:

  • Diverse Clientele: Represents both public sector entities (like state agencies and local governments) and private sector corporations and individuals.
  • Broad Litigation Experience: Claims expertise in a wide range of civil litigation matters, including complex commercial, product liability, personal injury, employment, and civil rights cases.
  • Unique Perspective: States that representing both sides provides "inside knowledge into the strategy and tactics used by our opponents."
  • Commitment to Diversity: Emphasizes a commitment to diversity within its workforce, including women and minority attorneys, believing it leads to better client service.
  • Experienced Attorneys: Highlights a team of "selectively built, diverse team of top litigators" with a wealth of knowledge and expertise.
  • Active in Legal Community: Attorneys are reportedly active in local and national bar associations, frequently speak at legal seminars, and author articles.
  • Strategic Mission: Formed in 2012 with a mission to provide excellent legal advice in complex matters, with an eye towards efficient resolution.

However, it's also important to acknowledge concerns raised in client reviews:

  • Communication Issues: One review indicates slow or no response for weeks, causing concern as a "right to sue" window was closing.
  • Lack of Intake Process: A client noted the absence of a proper intake process, which can be a red flag for thoroughness.
  • Perceived Conflict of Interest: A significant concern was raised about an attorney disclosing a firm merger with the "opposing side" and stating it was "bad news" for the client, implying a potential conflict or lack of commitment to the client's best interest from the outset.
  • Professionalism Concerns: Accusations of attorneys being "extremely rude" and crossing "ethical lines" were also made in client feedback.
Promotions or Special Offers

As a professional law firm, Peterson Johnson & Murray SC does not typically offer "promotions" or "special offers" in the same way a retail business might. Legal services are highly individualized, and fees are determined based on the complexity, time, and resources required for each specific case.

However, for Wisconsin residents or businesses considering legal representation, the most valuable "offer" from any reputable law firm is the opportunity for an initial consultation. During this consultation, prospective clients can discuss their legal needs directly with an attorney, understand the scope of work involved, and gain clarity on fee structures and payment arrangements. It is crucial during this initial meeting to ask specific questions about the firm's experience with cases similar to yours, their communication protocols, and how they handle potential conflicts of interest. This direct engagement allows clients to assess if the firm and its attorneys are the right fit for their specific situation, particularly in light of the concerns raised in some public reviews.

Contact Information

For individuals or businesses in Wisconsin seeking legal counsel, Peterson Johnson & Murray SC can be contacted at:

Address: 788 N Jefferson St #500, Milwaukee, WI 53202, USA

Phone: (414) 278-8800

Mobile Phone: +1 414-278-8800 (This number likely routes to the main office line, providing comprehensive access to the firm's team)

It is recommended to call the main office line to discuss your legal needs or to schedule a consultation. The firm's website (pjmchicago.com, although the Chicago name may indicate a primary focus there, the Milwaukee address is consistent) would also offer additional resources, attorney profiles, and contact forms for further information and communication. When making initial contact, it's advisable to be prepared with a brief summary of your legal matter to facilitate an efficient discussion.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For residents and businesses across Wisconsin, particularly in the Milwaukee area, finding competent and trustworthy legal representation is a critical decision. Peterson Johnson & Murray SC, situated in a highly accessible downtown Milwaukee location, positions itself as a firm capable of handling a diverse range of civil litigation and specialized legal matters. The firm highlights its broad expertise, diverse team, and commitment to serving both public and private sector clients.

However, it is imperative for locals to approach their selection of legal counsel with thorough due diligence. While the firm presents itself with a wide array of services and a focus on effective resolution, the public reviews provided raise significant points for consideration, such as concerns regarding communication responsiveness, initial intake processes, and potential conflicts of interest. These are critical aspects of the attorney-client relationship that can profoundly impact the outcome and experience of a legal case.

Therefore, while Peterson Johnson & Murray SC offers a convenient location and a broad range of practice areas that could potentially serve the needs of Wisconsin locals, prospective clients should prioritize an in-depth initial consultation. This is an opportunity to directly address any concerns, clarify communication expectations, and ensure that the firm's approach aligns with their values and the specific requirements of their legal situation. For Wisconsin residents, choosing the right legal partner means not just assessing advertised services, but also carefully evaluating the firm's professional conduct and commitment to client welfare throughout the entire legal journey.
