Honestly he deserve no stars, first time looking for a lawyer and I can say the only thing he did was just rush the process every time we met in court he was rushing to put down information! I did not get what I wanted at the end, and he also was agreeing with the other persons lawyer because they “knew each other” make that make sense. Waste of my time would never recommend him to anyone. No comminication prior to court dates. Sent him so much evidence to get what I wanted didn’t use not even 1 piece of it !

He can be reached via phone at (401) 421-1170 or mobile phone at +1 401-421-1170. As an attorney listed within the "Lawyers Near Me" category, his local presence aims to serve the legal needs of the Providence community and surrounding areas.

The "Lawyers Near Me" platform highlights the importance of geographical accessibility for clients. Robert J. Cosentino's office in Providence provides a local option for residents who may prefer direct, in-person consultations. This proximity can be a factor for clients seeking legal counsel within their immediate vicinity, aiming for convenience in scheduling meetings and facilitating the exchange of documents. An accessible location can be particularly beneficial for navigating local court systems and understanding specific community legal practices.

Regarding the office environment at 950 Smith St, while specific details are not extensively available in public information, a legal office typically maintains a professional setting. This environment is designed to accommodate confidential discussions between attorneys and clients. Clients can generally expect a space that facilitates private consultations, potentially including a reception area and dedicated meeting rooms, to ensure that sensitive legal matters are handled discreetly and professionally.

Based on publicly available information, Robert J. Cosentino offers a range of legal services. His practice areas include:

  • Personal Injury Law: This appears to be a significant focus of his practice. This area covers legal representation for individuals who have sustained injuries due to the negligence or wrongdoing of another party. Specific sub-areas mentioned include auto accidents, slip and fall incidents, and aggressive representation in personal injury claims.
  • Family Law: This involves addressing sensitive domestic relations issues. Information suggests he handles cases related to divorce and child custody.
  • Workers' Compensation: Providing legal assistance for individuals who have sustained injuries in the workplace, helping them navigate the workers' compensation system to secure benefits and compensation.
  • Criminal Law / Criminal Defense: Representing individuals accused of various criminal offenses. Information indicates a focus on getting cases dismissed as a top priority.
  • Real Estate Law: While less prominently featured in some descriptions, other sources indicate his involvement in real estate legal matters.
  • Document Preparation: Some sources mention his firm handles document preparation, indicating a broader scope of general legal assistance.

Attorney Cosentino's website states he has been providing legal assistance to individuals for over 35 years, having been founded in 1980. He is licensed to practice in all Massachusetts state and federal courts, and is also licensed in the Rhode Island State Bar, the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, and the United States Supreme Court. He is associated with the Workers Compensation Bench Bar Committee and the Rhode Island Association for Justice.

The features of Robert J. Cosentino's legal practice, when viewed objectively and incorporating client feedback, present a mixed picture. Based on promotional material and stated goals, his practice aims for:

  • Aggressive Representation: His website mentions "Aggressive, Skillful Legal Representation in Personal Injury Claims" and states "Getting your Case Dismissed is My Top Priority" in criminal defense.
  • Accessibility: The provision of a 24-hour answering service and availability for home and hospital visits upon request suggests an effort to be accessible to clients, particularly those with personal injury claims who may have difficulty traveling.

However, the provided customer reviews introduce critical features and concerns that are important for potential clients to consider:

  • Communication Issues: Clients explicitly state "No communication prior to court dates" and "Doesn't communicate." This indicates a significant concern regarding the firm's responsiveness and client updates, which is crucial for building trust and managing client expectations.
  • Perceived Lack of Diligence/Preparation: Reviews mention "didn't use not even 1 piece of it!" regarding evidence provided, and "Didn't even mention any of my concerns in family court." This suggests that clients felt their cases were not thoroughly prepared or adequately presented in court.
  • Client Outcomes and Satisfaction: Clients state "I did not get what I wanted at the end" and describe their experience as a "Complete waste of money and time." This indicates dissatisfaction with the ultimate results achieved in their cases.
  • Perceived Conflict of Interest/Bias: One review alleges that he "was agreeing with the other persons lawyer because they 'knew each other'." If true, this raises serious ethical concerns about prioritizing professional relationships over client interests.
  • Rushed Process: The feedback "he was rushing to put down information" suggests a hurried approach in court, potentially at the expense of thoroughness or client understanding.

Promotional information for Robert J. Cosentino, as typically seen in online directories and his website, would highlight his stated practice areas and commitment to aggressive representation. For instance, his website emphasizes his readiness to help clients seeking compensation for auto accidents, personal injuries, and slip and fall incidents, and his goal of getting criminal cases dismissed. It also mentions his ability to handle "disabling, long-term injuries" and his role in family law, workers' compensation, and criminal law.

However, the provided customer reviews offer a stark contrast to typical promotional messaging and serve as direct, unfiltered promotional (or anti-promotional) information for potential clients. These real customer experiences directly convey significant concerns:

  • Negative Word-of-Mouth: Statements like "Waste of my time would never recommend him to anyone" and "Don't even bother with him !!!" serve as powerful deterrents for prospective clients and directly contradict any positive self-promotion.
  • Highlighted Weaknesses: The reviews bring to light perceived weaknesses in communication, preparation, and client advocacy, which are critical factors for clients selecting a lawyer.
  • Lack of Trust: The allegation of collusion with opposing counsel due to personal relationships can severely damage trust in a legal professional.

Therefore, while Robert J. Cosentino's official information promotes his experience and areas of focus, the objective introduction must also present the highly critical client feedback. This feedback suggests that potential clients should carefully consider communication protocols, case handling expectations, and clarity regarding attorney relationships before engaging his services. His office hours are typically Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with some sources listing longer hours (8:00 AM - 6:00 PM) and Saturday by appointment, with a 24-hour answering service.
