We retained this firm to negotiate a dispute with an egregious deceptive trade case. Be careful about the variable fee agreement, which in our case was switched to $500/hour after we were told our attorney was $350/hour. We burned through a $5k retainer that resulted in the Bad Actor gouging us for another $10,000 to extricate our inventory. Our Lawyer should have gone to court to prevent that, but did not. Crooked large businesses know they can steal $20,000-30,000 from small businesses due to the greed of business law firms, and they regularly do.

Based on the available customer reviews, The Hunnicutt Law Group appears to handle cases involving business disputes and deceptive trade practices. One review mentions retaining the firm to negotiate a dispute related to an "egregious deceptive trade case." This suggests expertise in navigating such complex business litigation. The same review also alludes to issues with a variable fee agreement, which reportedly increased from an initial rate of $350/hour to $500/hour. The client expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome, claiming that the lawyer should have pursued court action to prevent further financial losses.
Another review details significant issues with communication from the firm after paying a $5,000 retainer over a year prior. The client reported difficulty in getting in touch with the office, contrasting this with the detailed invoices they received. They also expressed concern about being asked for an additional $5,000 for continued research on a case that was initially described as having clear fault. As of the review date, no legal action had been filed. This feedback raises serious concerns about the firm's communication practices and the progress of the client's case.
The features of The Hunnicutt Law Group, as perceived through the lens of these reviews, present a mixed picture. While they seemingly handle complex business law matters such as deceptive trade cases and fiduciary duty claims, the reported issues with fee agreements, communication, and the progression of cases are significant points of concern for potential clients. The mention of hourly billing and retainers is typical of many law firms, but the discrepancies in fee rates and the lack of perceived progress reported by clients should be carefully considered.
One particularly unusual and concerning detail in a review is an accusation of the attorney charging a client for meals at McDonald's. If substantiated, this would represent highly questionable billing practices and a lack of professionalism. This anecdote further underscores the need for potential clients to exercise extreme caution and thoroughly discuss all billing practices upfront.

It is strongly recommended to have a detailed discussion about fee agreements, billing practices, communication protocols, and the expected course of legal action before committing to their services. The reported experiences highlight the importance of clear and transparent communication and a well-defined strategy from any legal counsel.

Jul 26, 2024 · elaine harringtonAbsolutely do not use this law firm. We hired them and paid 5000$ down over a year ago. To date getting communication from this office has proven to be almost impossible, with the exception of invoices are detailed invoices as they like to call it given to us about this case. Now we are told he needs another 5,000 to continue researching the case that we were told was crystal clear that someone was guilty of failure of their fiduciary duties. And as of today nothing has been filed in a court of law. I highly recommend you seek legal help elsewhere, Oh yeah watch out he likes to eat at MCDONALD'S and charge you for that to.
Apr 07, 2023 · HareMy experience was horrible. I hired an attorney to handle my Lemon Law case. Thirty days after I hired him he passed away. I received and unsolicited email from Steve Hunnicutt stating he was a good friend of my attorney that died. Mr. Hunnicutt was not a partner of my attorney. He said he wanted to help me with my case and to call him or email him to discuss my options. I emailed him that day. Several days passed with no response from him or his office. I then called and spoke with his legal secretary and she stated he was with another client, but she would have him contact me. Several days passed with no emails or a phone call from Mr Hunnicutt. This firm is not responsive and lacks customer service skills. I quickly decided that I would not want this firm to represent my case. I actually feel that some how he got my contact information without my permission is a violation of my privacy rights and my attorney client privilege that I had established with my now deceased attorney was also violated. Now I see why so many people are down on attorneys. Worst legal practice I have ever seen or experienced. So Sad!!
May 24, 2017 · Al PratherPlease reconsider and find another firm. The billable hours are inflated. He charges 2.5 hours every time you meet with him even if the meeting is less than an hour. He does not need 1.5 hours to draft a recap. Steve wanted to reschedule a meeting on the day of the meeting and he charged me over $500 only for his call, since he called me to reschedule. This is after I already answered his paralegal's call to reschedule the meeting.
