I hired MR.Basse on JULY 10th,2023 for a criminal case. Till this day I'm still in court . I have paid him 2,650 of 4,000. The last payment was 1,400 on may 15th, 2024 with a balance of 1,350.00. This man does not show up for court dates. Due to him not showing up I had to get a public defender. He wait for the last minute to tell you to ask the court for a continue. He has no problem with pocketing your money and not doing any work. He asked me each time when our court date was. Of the seven court date, he have appeared to only three of them. It has gotten so bad that the judge had her clerk reach out to him to find out why he was not showing up for court. Needless to say he has no respect for the court because he did not show up or respond to their email. DO NOT USE HIM.I had to get a public defender on May 20 due to the fact of him once again, not showing up but collecting my money on the 15th. I have reached out to him for a refund to this day. He has refused to pay me and not respond to my request, I am moving forward with a complaint to the attorney registration and disciplinary commission to seek my money. Whatever consequences they give him for not following the oath is just fine. It's a shame to have to go this far to get my money back is crazy. He need to remember he have a family and karma my skip him and hit a close love one. I work my but off to give him my last 1400 after a knee replacement and he cash my check and not show up for court on the 20th of may. PLEASE DO NOT USE ATTORNEY WITH SHADY Attention. I wish I had higher one of the other attorneys that reached out to me.

Based on the provided customer reviews, The Law Office of Nir Basse presents a mixed picture of its features and highlights.
Positive Highlights (from one review):
Ability to Secure Favorable Outcomes in Serious Cases: One client states that Mr. Basse "got me 2 months in county in probation off of a Class X charge," which is a significant reduction from a potential "6-12 year bid." This indicates a capability to achieve favorable plea bargains or defense results in serious criminal matters.

Client Satisfaction in Specific Instances: The client who received a reduced sentence expressed strong satisfaction, stating they "couldn't ask for a better lawyer" and would "definitely use him again."
Concerns/Negative Highlights (from another review):
Inconsistent Court Appearances: A significant concern raised is Mr. Basse's alleged failure to appear for multiple court dates. The client states he "does not show up for court dates," and "of the seven court date, he have appeared to only three of them." This reportedly led to the client needing a public defender and the judge's clerk having to contact him.
Communication Issues: The same review alleges a lack of responsiveness, stating he "wait for the last minute to tell you to ask the court for a continue" and "has refused to pay me and not respond to my request" for a refund.
Financial Transparency/Work Ethic Concerns: The client claims he has "no problem with pocketing your money and not doing any work" and that he "cash my check and not show up for court."
Formal Complaint Filed: The client explicitly states they are "moving forward with a complaint to the attorney registration and disciplinary commission to seek my money," indicating serious dissatisfaction and a formal dispute regarding professional conduct and billing.
These varied reviews provide different perspectives on the firm's operational characteristics.
Legal service providers, particularly those specializing in criminal defense, typically do not offer "promotions" in the same way retail businesses might. The services provided are highly personalized and depend heavily on the specifics of each client's unique legal situation and the complexity of their case.
However, it is common for law offices to provide:
Initial Consultations: Most attorneys offer an initial meeting or phone call to discuss your legal needs. This allows prospective clients to explain their situation, learn about the potential legal avenues, and determine if the attorney's expertise aligns with their requirements. It is always advisable to clarify whether this initial consultation is complimentary or if there is a fee associated with it.
Discussion of Fee Structure: During the consultation, a clear explanation of the attorney's fee structure (e.g., flat fees for certain services, hourly rates, or retainer agreements) should be provided. Understanding the financial commitment upfront is essential for any legal engagement.
For specific details regarding any consultation policies, fee arrangements, or how The Law Office of Nir Basse handles new client inquiries, it is recommended to contact them directly using the contact information provided below. For individuals in Illinois facing criminal charges, the choice of legal representation is a critical one. The Law Office of Nir Basse, located in Chicago, presents a nuanced profile based on available public information and customer reviews, which should be carefully considered by locals.
On one hand, the firm's potential suitability for some locals stems from its demonstrated ability to achieve significantly reduced sentences in serious criminal cases, as highlighted by one client who received two months in county and probation instead of a 6-12 year prison bid for a Class X charge. This indicates that for certain complex criminal defense matters, the firm may possess the legal knowledge and negotiation skills to secure more favorable outcomes. For locals facing dire circumstances, the possibility of such a positive outcome is a significant factor. The expressed sentiment that Mr. Basse "really put his heart in his cases" also suggests a level of dedication that can be highly valued by clients in distress.
On the other hand, a crucial aspect for local users to consider, based on another review, are the serious allegations regarding professional conduct, including alleged non-appearance at court dates, lack of communication, and refusal to refund fees for unrendered services. These types of concerns, if accurate, can severely impact a client's case progression, finances, and trust in their legal counsel. The reported need for a public defender due to an attorney's absence, and the stated intention to file a complaint with the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, are significant red flags that any Illinois local must weigh carefully.
The firm's Chicago location offers geographical accessibility, which is generally beneficial for residents in the greater Chicago metropolitan area who need local representation. However, the decision to engage with any legal service provider, especially in high-stakes criminal defense, should always be made after thorough due diligence. For Illinois locals, this would mean carefully reviewing all available information, including both positive and negative feedback, and potentially seeking multiple consultations before committing to representation, ensuring that the chosen attorney aligns with their expectations for professionalism, reliability, and communication.
