I called to ask a simple question pertaining to my divorce and Chip spoke to me in the rudest way possible. He was yelling at me over the phone to the point where the notary that was in front of me could hear him as well. It was totally uncalled for and extremely unprofessional. I was told he was stressed from consolidating two firms, but you still do not talk to people that way no matter how much stress you’re under. He had no idea what I’m going through on my end and I could’ve used some kindness in that situation with it already being a sensitive subject for me. Would not recommend his firm.

Walker & Walker primarily focuses on family law, an area that encompasses a wide range of sensitive and often emotionally challenging legal matters affecting individuals and families in North Carolina. While specific details of all their services should be confirmed directly with the firm, their core expertise, as indicated by client reviews, is in:
Divorce: Guiding clients through the entire divorce process in North Carolina, from initial filing to final decree. This includes addressing all aspects of marital dissolution, ensuring clients understand their rights and obligations.
Legal Separation: Assisting couples who wish to separate legally, which often involves formal agreements regarding property, finances, and children before or in lieu of divorce.
Child Custody and Visitation: Helping parents establish or modify custody arrangements and visitation schedules that are in the best interests of the children and comply with North Carolina law. This can involve litigation or mediation.
Child Support: Calculating and negotiating child support obligations, ensuring fair and legally compliant arrangements that provide for the financial needs of children.
Spousal Support (Alimony): Representing clients in matters of spousal support, determining eligibility, amount, and duration of payments based on North Carolina statutes.
Equitable Distribution: Facilitating the fair division of marital assets and debts between divorcing spouses, which can involve complex financial assessments and negotiations.
The firm’s approach to these services often emphasizes efficiency, aiming to resolve cases in a timely manner. This focus on expediting legal processes can be a significant benefit for clients seeking swift resolution to their family law matters.
Walker & Walker, while receiving varied feedback, demonstrates certain features and highlights that are relevant for North Carolina residents seeking family law services:
Efficiency in Case Handling: One client explicitly praised the firm, stating that their divorce attorney "handle my case real fast." For individuals eager to move forward after a separation, the ability to expedite legal proceedings can be a significant advantage and a key highlight of the firm's service.
Focused on Divorce and Family Law: The firm appears to have a strong focus on divorce, which indicates specialized knowledge and experience in this complex and sensitive area of law in North Carolina. This specialization can be beneficial for clients seeking deep expertise rather than general legal services.
Client Appreciation for Results: The positive review expressed gratitude for the attorney "handling my case for me," suggesting a client who was satisfied with the outcome and the swiftness of the resolution.
However, it's also important to consider all available feedback. A key piece of feedback highlights concerns about communication style and professionalism under stress. While "stress from consolidating two firms" was mentioned as a potential reason, it underscores the importance of consistent client experience, especially in sensitive legal areas like divorce. Potential clients should weigh the firm's reported efficiency against the importance of empathetic and consistently professional communication throughout their legal journey. For some, a quick resolution might be the priority, while for others, compassionate guidance during a difficult time is equally crucial.
In the legal services industry, especially for firms specializing in sensitive and complex areas like family law, the concept of "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional retail sense is generally not a common practice. This is largely due to ethical guidelines that govern legal advertising and the highly personalized nature of legal representation. Fees for family law cases are typically determined by factors such as the complexity of the divorce or custody dispute, the time required, the specific services rendered, and the experience of the attorney.
However, clients in North Carolina considering Walker & Walker can generally expect certain standard practices common among professional legal firms:
Initial Consultations: Many law firms, including potentially Walker & Walker, offer initial consultations. These sessions are crucial opportunities for prospective clients to discuss their legal situation, receive a preliminary assessment of their case, and inquire about the firm's fee structure. While some consultations may be complimentary for a brief period, others might involve a nominal fee. This allows both the client and the attorney to determine if there is a suitable fit for representation before formal engagement.
Transparent Fee Structures: A reputable law firm strives for transparency in its billing practices. For family law cases, fees often involve hourly rates, although some specific services might be offered at a flat fee. During an initial consultation, the firm should clearly outline their fee schedule and any associated costs, ensuring clients understand their financial commitment upfront.
For precise information regarding fees for your specific divorce, child custody, or other family law needs, it is highly recommended to contact Walker & Walker directly. This direct communication will allow you to receive a personalized assessment and discuss the financial aspects of their services tailored to your situation in North Carolina.
