I first called Ms. White to consider a bankruptcy case for myself. Instead of charging me a $100 consultation fee, she applied my $100 toward the bankruptcy fees. I then made a few more payments totaling $350, which my last payment was in 2009. I am currently unemployed and cannot afford to file bankruptcy right now. I received a letter from her recently stating she was closing my case with no regards to my payments I made. I should receive a $250.00 refund since I cannot afford to pay for a bankruptcy. Upon calling her Paralegal twice I received no return phone call. The third phone call I made I spoke with Ms. White. She insisted she worked on my case for over 2 hours. She has never sent me a statement and has never received any information concerning my financial situation, statement, bills or forms that need to be completed before a bankruptcy can even begin. She claims that we spoke on the phone concerning my case but the only phone calls I made was to let them know I was mailing them payments. This lady took $250 of my money and refuses to send it to me. Keep in mind that the money she has was placed in an account that probably draws interest, which I could care less about. I just need my refund of $250. I am reporting her to Raleigh and it is my advise....DO NOT USE THIS ATTORNEY FOR ANYTHING...She does not care......

The U.S. Bankruptcy Code provides a framework for individuals and businesses to address unmanageable debt, offering pathways to either discharge certain debts or reorganize payments. White’s practice is dedicated to helping clients understand these options and guiding them through every step of the process. For those in North Carolina grappling with creditors, foreclosures, or insurmountable debt, finding an attorney who specializes in this field and can provide clear, comprehensive advice is crucial. • Bankruptcy Specialization:

  • Professional and Thorough Team:

  • Guidance and Expertise:

  • Initial Consultation Fee Application:

It is crucial for prospective clients to consider the entirety of available feedback. While there is a strong positive review, there is also a detailed negative review that raises concerns about communication, fee handling, and perceived lack of work on a specific case. This suggests that individual experiences can vary significantly. Potential clients are strongly encouraged to ask detailed questions about communication protocols, billing practices, and the expected steps in their case during an initial consultation to ensure clarity and comfort with the firm's procedures.

Based on the publicly available information, Barbara L. White's practice does not explicitly advertise ongoing, broad promotions or special offers in the typical sense of a retail business. Legal services, particularly in specialized areas like bankruptcy, are generally tailored to the unique circumstances of each client, and fees are determined accordingly.

However, one detail from a client review suggests a particular approach to initial fees:

  • Consultation Fee Applied Towards Services:

For North Carolina residents considering bankruptcy or other debt relief options, the most effective way to understand the fee structure and any specific arrangements is to contact Barbara L. White's office directly. During an initial consultation, you can discuss your financial situation in detail, learn about the potential costs involved for Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy, and inquire about how fees are handled. Transparency regarding billing practices is key, and a direct conversation will provide the most accurate and up-to-date information relevant to your personal circumstances.

White presents herself as a suitable option for specialized legal counsel in bankruptcy and debt relief. Her suitability for local residents can be assessed through several key points, while also acknowledging the importance of individual due diligence due to varied client experiences.

Firstly, her primary specialization in bankruptcy law (Chapter 7 and Chapter 13) is a significant advantage. For North Carolinians facing dire financial straits, having an attorney dedicated to this specific field ensures they receive focused, knowledgeable advice tailored to the complexities of U.S. bankruptcy code and North Carolina state laws. This focused expertise is crucial for navigating the often-intimidating process of debt discharge or reorganization, helping clients achieve a vital financial fresh start.

Secondly, her physical presence in Charlotte at 1101 South Blvd provides convenient accessibility for individuals within Mecklenburg County and surrounding areas. This local presence means easier access for in-person consultations, document review, and direct communication, which can be particularly reassuring when dealing with sensitive financial matters. For many, having a local attorney who is geographically accessible and familiar with the local legal landscape is a strong preference.

While one client review highlights the "professional, thorough, helpful, and kind" nature of Ms. White and her paralegal, demonstrating a positive client-service experience, it's essential for prospective clients to engage in a thorough initial consultation. This allows for a clear discussion of expectations, communication protocols, and fee arrangements, particularly given the detailed concerns raised in another review about communication and refunds.

In conclusion, for North Carolina locals seeking dedicated legal assistance for bankruptcy and debt relief, Barbara L. White offers specialized knowledge and a local presence. Individuals are encouraged to leverage an initial consultation to ensure her approach and communication style align with their needs, helping them make an informed decision on their path to financial stability.
