Services Offered

GPS Law Group appears to offer a diverse range of legal services, addressing various needs for individuals, families, and businesses in North Carolina. While specific details of every practice area are not exhaustively listed, the nature of general practice firms and client inquiries suggest broad capabilities:

  • Real Estate Law: Given the mention of "deeds" in client feedback, the firm likely handles various real estate matters, including property transactions, deed preparation, boundary disputes, and potentially landlord-tenant issues.
  • Estate Planning: Based on common family legal needs, they likely assist with drafting Last Wills and Testaments, Powers of Attorney (for financial and healthcare decisions), and potentially basic trust formation to help clients plan for the future.
  • Family Law: Many general practice firms offer support in sensitive family matters such as divorce, child custody, child support, and spousal support, guiding clients through often emotional and complex transitions.
  • Business Law: Providing legal counsel to small and medium-sized businesses for matters like business formation, contract review, compliance, and dispute resolution.
  • Civil Litigation Support: While one client had a negative experience regarding litigation, a general practice firm may offer consultation or initial guidance on various civil disputes, or refer to appropriate litigation specialists. This could include issues like contract disputes or personal injury queries, even if not fully handled in-house.
  • Debt Collection from Third Parties: The reference to "trouble getting the money from the city" in a positive review suggests they may assist clients with recovering funds owed to them from various entities.
  • Legal Consultations: Offering initial discussions to assess client needs and determine the best course of action for a wide array of legal concerns.

The firm’s approach seems to be one of taking care of a broad spectrum of needs, aiming to be a comprehensive legal resource for the local community.

Features / Highlights

GPS Law Group is characterized by several key features and highlights, as reflected in client feedback, that contribute to its suitability for individuals and businesses in North Carolina:

  • Accommodating and Supportive: Clients describe the firm as "very accommodating," suggesting a flexible and client-friendly approach to scheduling and managing cases. This includes making clients feel heard and supported throughout their legal process.
  • Minimizes Client Work: A significant highlight is their ability to "take care of everything with minimal work from us." This indicates a hands-on approach where the legal team handles the complexities, allowing clients to focus on their daily lives without being overwhelmed by legal procedures.
  • Effective Problem Resolution: Despite potential delays (e.g., "trouble getting the money from the city"), the firm is praised for ultimately resolving issues, implying persistence and effectiveness in achieving client objectives. The positive outcome for a client reinforces their problem-solving capabilities.
  • Professionalism and Attentiveness (from specific staff): While experiences can vary, the mention of "Mrs. Crosby was who I had spoke with by telephone the day before, as She was attentive and just amazing" highlights that some team members exhibit a high level of professionalism and client care, which is crucial for initial impressions and ongoing support.
  • Diverse Service Offering: The firm aims to address a range of legal needs, from real estate to potential civil matters, attempting to be a comprehensive legal resource for the community.
  • Client Recommendation: The positive review strongly states, "I would highly recommend their services," indicating strong client satisfaction and trust in the firm's ability to deliver positive results.

Promotions or Special Offers

The provided information indicates that GPS Law Group charges a consultation fee for certain cases, as exemplified by the client who was advised of a "$150 plus a $6.00 processing fee" for a telephone appointment. This suggests that while some firms offer free initial consultations, GPS Law Group may charge for their preliminary legal advice sessions.

It is crucial for prospective clients in North Carolina to be aware of this potential fee when considering GPS Law Group. This consultation fee allows individuals to:

  • Receive dedicated time with an attorney to discuss their concerns.
  • Get an initial assessment of their legal situation and potential strategies.
  • Benefit from the attorney's expertise and guidance, even in the preliminary stages.
  • Understand the firm's approach and determine if it aligns with their needs before proceeding with full representation.

While a fee is charged, it allows for a more substantive discussion than a free, brief screening call. It is highly recommended that interested individuals contact GPS Law Group directly to confirm their current consultation fee structure and to inquire about what the consultation entails, including its duration and what information is needed beforehand. Transparency regarding these fees is important for clients making informed decisions about legal representation.

When contacting the office, it is advisable to be prepared to discuss the nature of your legal issue and to clarify the firm’s policy regarding consultation fees and scheduling. Scheduling an appointment in advance is always recommended to ensure you receive dedicated time and attention from the legal team.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For residents and businesses across North Carolina, particularly within the Charlotte metropolitan area, GPS Law Group offers a compelling option for navigating various legal challenges. Their convenient location in the University Executive Park ensures easy accessibility for locals, alleviating much of the logistical stress often associated with seeking legal assistance.

The firm's suitability for locals is illuminated by the contrasting client experiences. On one hand, a highly positive review highlights their effectiveness, stating, "Great people to work with & very accommodating! They took care of everything with minimal work from us... I would highly recommend their services." This suggests that for cases they handle and clients they take on, GPS Law Group can be highly efficient and provide significant relief by managing complex legal processes, which is a major benefit for busy individuals and businesses. Their ability to deliver positive outcomes, even with external hurdles like "trouble getting the money from the city," speaks to their persistence.

On the other hand, a critical review points to significant issues with initial communication and the consultation process, describing a "rude" secretary, a lack of preparation by the attorney before a paid consultation, and a general dismissive attitude for a short, unhelpful session. This indicates that client experiences can vary significantly, particularly at the intake stage. However, the mention of "Mrs. Crosby was who I had spoke with by telephone the day before, as She was attentive and just amazing," suggests that specific team members exemplify excellent client service.

For North Carolina locals considering GPS Law Group, it appears they are best suited for those who value a firm that is accommodating and takes on the primary workload, as evidenced by the positive review. It is crucial to have very clear communication about the scope of your case and the consultation process upfront, especially given the feedback about the initial intake experience and the firm's focused approach to specific types of cases (e.g., potentially less focused on broader litigation without prior review). By directly inquiring about their services and managing expectations for initial interactions, locals can determine if GPS Law Group's strengths align with their specific legal needs, particularly for real estate, estate planning, or other transactional matters where their "minimal work from us" approach would be highly beneficial.

I had a scheduled 2:30 telephone appointment on Thursday October 24th. I was advised the consultation fee would be $150 plus a $6.00 processing fee. At 3:10 I called the firm to see what was going on as no one contacted me and I was to add a family member to the meeting, in which I did. However I was advised by the attorney that I was scheduled to discuss my concerns with He DID NOT review any evidence/ emails regarding my concerns prior to the meeting. He also informed me that I should have been told to call the firm at 2:30 as they don’t call customers! In fact he did about a 7-8 minute quick review or scan through in which He appeared more bothered than helpful for this (30) minute session. I was told not to use PRONOUNS “He” or “She”when referring to the two siblings in this Heir property case. It appears charging a consultation fee for cases is definitely a quick way to make money without actually giving professional and most importantly detailed information on how or if you should proceed. My family member said his service wasn’t worth $25 or our time. *** Please note Mrs. Crosby was who I had spoke with by telephone the day before, as She was attentive and just amazing ***

They have done a great job I was skeptical at first but when I received the down payment a few months ago I could not believe it . They did everything and the people I communicated with were all very helpful and they did what they said they were going to do so thank you for all your help and job well done. Darren

At first, attorney and paralegal were very helpful with steps to take regarding case. I was a little cautious about paying $3k upfront but it seemed like they were going to be able to help. Then I started getting statements where they charged $25 to call someone and leave a message. This happened repeatedly. They duplicated forms and charged hundreds. And then when I called to get an update, at first I was told attorney was on vacation, check back in a week. When I called, both attorney and para were no longer there. The night before court, another attorney calls to try to get information for court the next day, saying he saw nothing in the file. So last minute, tried to bring him up to date. We get to court next day and he tells us that we need to find someone else to handle case, he works primarily out of another city. Then he goes before the judge and says that he wasn’t familiar with our case he had just gotten it the day before. So judge did nothing. When all was said and done, they sent us a check back for $500. And told us to find other representation. Don’t have another $3k to give.
