thaddeus was representing my sons father (defendant,) for DV & had inappropriately called me (plaintiff) on a mother’s day sunday, where my legal team wasn’t present (as it was the weekend/holiday.) thaddeus was asking me some very inappropriate & irrelevant questions regarding defendant, whom i had an active PFA on. relaying any information to me was violating the PFA i had on defendant. thaddeus asked things like if i would testify against defendant if he pleads not guilty, or defendant wants to know if i’ll allow him to see our son (this isn’t family court) etc. worst of all, he had defendant (in jail) on the call the entire time as a 3 way, without my knowledge or consent.. also violating the PFA. after i began to feel uncomfortable with the situation, i requested thaddeus call another time when my legal team was available because i wasn’t prepared to handle this on my own. he ended the call wishing me a “happy mother’s day”, the audacity. my legal team ate him up the following day after finding everything out. later down the road, we learned defendant ended up dreading thaddeus too, as he lacked helping with just basics. thaddeus apparently is well known to not be anywhere NEAR amazing at his job, & my experience is exactly that too. if i could give 0 stars i would.

  • Criminal Law: They handle a spectrum of criminal charges, from misdemeanor crimes (like theft, fraud, unlawful drugs) to felony-level offenses, which carry severe penalties. They also specifically mention expertise in Motor Vehicle related crimes (e.g., OUI/DUI defense) and Domestic Violence crimes, highlighting the significant ramifications of such convictions on family and other legal rights. The firm emphasizes dissecting facts and protecting constitutional rights in criminal cases.
  • Family Law: This sensitive area includes legal matters such as Prenuptial Agreements, Judicial Separation, Grandparents' Rights, Divorce, and Parental Rights actions. These issues are primarily addressed by statutes found in 19-A of the Maine Revised Statutes.
  • Probate Law: This involves legal processes related to estates, guardianships, conservatorships, wills, and powers of attorney. These matters are primarily addressed by Title 18-C of the Maine Revised Statutes and are handled in Maine's County Probate Courts.

The firm asserts that it supports clients with "20 years of legal experience navigating the Maine District and Superior Courts," suggesting a solid understanding of the state's judicial system. They aim to help clients plan and prepare for life's challenges, find justice in adversity, and provide both a "sword" (for pursuing claims) and a "shield" (for defense).

Promotional Information and Client Feedback

The firm's promotional efforts include highlighting their years of experience and the breadth of their practice areas. Thaddeus V. Day's profile, including his educational background from Clarkson University, Pennsylvania State University, and the Maine School of Law, are presented to demonstrate his qualifications. He was also the 2020 president of the Maine State Bar Association, which speaks to his standing within the legal community.

However, when evaluating a legal service, client reviews offer invaluable insights. The provided customer reviews for the Law Offices of Thaddeus V. Day, PLLC present a significantly negative perspective, contrasting sharply with the firm's stated ideals:

  • One highly critical review, giving "0 stars" if possible, details an incident where Thaddeus Day, representing the defendant in a Domestic Violence (DV) case, allegedly made an "inappropriate" call to the plaintiff on a Mother's Day Sunday. The plaintiff states that Thaddeus asked irrelevant and inappropriate questions, violating an active Protection From Abuse (PFA) order by relaying information and having the defendant (who was in jail) on a three-way call without the plaintiff's knowledge or consent. The reviewer felt uncomfortable and requested a call when their legal team was present. The review concludes by stating that Thaddeus Day is "well known to not be anywhere NEAR amazing at his job," a sentiment shared by the defendant in that case, who also reportedly "dreaded Thaddeus."
  • Another negative review echoes similar concerns. The client recounts discovering a court date from the plaintiff because the law office failed to notify them directly. Furthermore, they experienced instances of Thaddeus Day being late for a court hearing (requiring the client to provide call-in information) and, on another occasion, not showing up at all. The client also reported issues with incorrect spelling in documents even after providing correct information, and crucial documents being mailed only the day before court. This led them to fire the attorney and represent themselves.

These detailed negative reviews raise serious concerns regarding professional conduct, adherence to court protocols, communication with clients, and overall competence in legal representation. The allegations of violating a PFA order, lack of preparation, missed court appearances, and poor communication suggest significant issues with the firm's service delivery. While these are specific accounts, their consistency in highlighting deficiencies in core legal service aspects (communication, court presence, client care) provides a stark counterpoint to the firm's promotional claims.

In conclusion, the Law Offices of Thaddeus V. Day, PLLC, located in North Yarmouth, ME, presents itself as a versatile legal firm specializing in civil, criminal, family, and probate law, with substantial experience in Maine courts. While the firm highlights its professional background and commitment to client support, the publicly available client reviews provide a critical perspective, detailing instances of alleged unprofessional conduct, communication failures, and inadequate representation. Prospective clients searching for "Lawyers Near Me" must weigh these contrasting pieces of information carefully and conduct thorough due diligence, including direct inquiries and independent verification of the attorney's disciplinary record if such information is publicly accessible.

the experiences we had with Thaddeus was not good. we had to find out from the plaintiff that we had court the next morning that the law off contacted her instead of my husband or I. than for one court hearing he was late and I had to send him the number to call in so we could get the court started cause we waited 15 minutes to join the call. another time he didn't show up at all. we had to fire him to continue our court case heard and we represented ourselves. Other issues is didn't get spelling correct even after given his office all the information . mailed stuff the day before court which is need for court.
