DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM. I would give zero stars if I could. I am extremely disappointed in them. My parent hired them in August, paid the retainer up front and trusted them to handle her case. For months she called repeatedly, and the staff said they would let the paralegal know to send her the list of requirements--but they never did. After FOUR MONTHS of waiting, she called again, only to find out that nothing had been filed for her case We then requested a refund due to their inaction, the attorney refused claiming that the payment was tied to a VAGUE one page contract. Even though we spoke to several staff members and they assured me we would be getting a refund. The whole office is basically a mess. It's unacceptable and unfair for them to charge for services that were never rendered. They don't seem to care about the lives of their clients who depend on them and trust them with these cases. This lack of professionalism, communication, and accountability has been extremely disappointing, especially from a Latino ran law firm claiming to serve the Latino community. I cannot recommend this form to anyone looking for reliable legal representation. Please do not hire them.

When considering any legal service, especially in sensitive areas like immigration, it's important for clients to evaluate a firm based on various aspects of its operation and client interaction. Based on the provided customer reviews for Ruiz Velasco Immigration Law, potential features and highlights that clients might note, and areas for consideration, include:
Focus on Immigration Law: The firm's name, "Ruiz Velasco Immigration Law," clearly indicates a specialization in immigration matters. This focus suggests that the firm's legal professionals dedicate their practice to understanding the intricacies of U.S. immigration policy and procedures.
Chicago-Based Location: Being located in downtown Chicago, at 55 W Van Buren St Suite 400, places the firm in a central and accessible hub for many individuals across Illinois. This physical presence can be a convenient feature for clients who prefer in-person consultations.
Claim to Serve the Latino Community: One review specifically mentions the firm claiming "to serve the Latino community." This suggests an intention to provide culturally sensitive services and potentially a bilingual environment, which could be a significant feature for Spanish-speaking clients or those from Latino backgrounds seeking legal representation.
However, it is also important to consider aspects highlighted in the reviews that may impact client experience, such as:
Communication and Responsiveness: Reviews suggest that clients have experienced challenges with consistent communication and responsiveness from staff regarding case updates and required documentation. For effective legal representation, clear and timely communication is crucial.
Case Progress and Proactiveness: A key concern raised in the reviews is the perceived lack of action or filing on cases even after several months and payment of retainers. Clients anticipate that a firm will actively progress their case in a timely manner.
Transparency in Service Agreements: One review mentions a "vague one-page contract" and a refusal of a refund for services not rendered. Transparency regarding retainer agreements, service scope, and refund policies is a critical feature for building client trust.
Impact on Client's Life: Clients convey significant disappointment regarding the impact of delayed or inactive cases on their personal and professional lives, including issues with work permits and permanent residency. A firm's ability to demonstrate empathy and urgency for the real-world implications of their clients' cases is vital.
Prospective clients should thoroughly research and conduct due diligence, including reviewing multiple sources of information and possibly seeking references, before making a decision on legal representation.
As a legal services firm, Ruiz Velasco Immigration Law, like most law practices, typically does not offer traditional "promotions" or "special offers" in the way a retail business might. Legal services are professional engagements based on expertise, time, and specific case requirements rather than discounted rates or bundled deals.
The value offered by a law firm primarily stems from its legal knowledge, strategic advice, and effective representation. However, it is common for legal firms to offer an initial consultation. During this consultation, potential clients can discuss their specific immigration situation, learn about the possible legal pathways, understand the firm's approach, and receive an outline of the fee structure for their case. This initial meeting serves as an opportunity for both the client and the firm to determine if there is a suitable fit for representation.
Based on the provided customer feedback, a critical "offer" that clients would highly value from any legal firm is clear communication, proactive case management, and transparent billing practices. While these are fundamental expectations of legal services, they become defining factors in client satisfaction and trust, as highlighted in the reviews. Prospective clients are always encouraged to inquire directly about the firm's fee structure, retainer policies, and communication protocols during any initial consultation to ensure a clear understanding before engaging services.

Dec 24, 2024 · alexandra EspinozaI’ve been with this attorney more than 10 years. Very disappointed my husband case was cancel and now he has no work permeant and now and days for him it’s hard to do anything. I am from the USA born and raised and been very patient with this office because Covid and supposably other reason I was given that was dumb for me. That changes of judges and I’ve been more than patient with this office paid for his work permeant but enough is enough. I recommend you all to hire someone else. Still waiting until this day and paid the fees to feel like I have been stolen my time and energy. I have health condition and still they could not get my husband permeant residences.
Feb 17, 2025 · Mari El FadlNot fond of the secretarial services which could turn many clients away. However, his work meets excellence, he is a big advocate and he is passionate about his work. I know of many families whose life's changed for the better because of the great services that he provides. Again the secretaries not so much. He used to work better when it was just him but I understand that as demand increases he needs help too. I wish the secretaries had the same passion for the community as he does.
Sep 01, 2022 · anita OStarted my moms case on September of 2021 and very little progress has been made. More issues than anything. They do not answer emails, office says they will call you back but never do, and they lost very important paperwork. Mr.Velasco tried to make things right but ended up lying which wasted our time and money. It’s almost impossible to get into contact with the office to try and fix things.
